Missing feature - voltage level monitor

I think I follow. So am I right, this won't provide a pulse at the output on the rising edge of the input.. but it *will* provide a pulse on the falling edge of the input? (so, I'd have to combine this circuit with a rising edge pulse generator?)

    Multimeter resistance measuring not working

Do things get any better / worse if you wiggle the test leads? you can get breaks in the connections at either end of the leads and even within the wire itself that lead to really erratic behaviour. Also if the meter's ever been dropped with the leads plugged in, the sockets into which the leads...

Missing feature - voltage level monitor

Looking at the data sheets for the relay family you found, it looks like they're very modular. I can see quite a few coil options at 12VDC.. I'll have to study carefully to figure out exactly what combination of modules I would need to get 2 x 16A changeover poles with a 12VDC coil. Looks like...

Missing feature - voltage level monitor

That's it, bang on, well found Steve. I was going to mount the whole lot in one of those IP65 type electrical enclosures that can easily incorporate a length of din rail so that's ideal. RS tend to be expensive in my experience so possibly I can find an equivalent a bit cheaper locally. Now...

    Hopefully a diagram will help explain the setup;

Missing feature - voltage level monitor

I've been sat mentally playing with electrolytic capacitors, diodes and relay coil trying to convert the load output's on/off square pulse into two pulses - a positive going one following the rising edge, then later a negative going one following the falling edge - in the hope of providing 2...

Missing feature - voltage level monitor

Rigged up & all's well, nothing went bang and the PWM seems to be happily doing it's thing. I still have the 100mA going through the relay all the time the load is on.. that's how I'm keeping the load switched to the inverter when the batteries are up to it. Drops back to 0mA when the PWM's...

Missing feature - voltage level monitor

I'd simply not thought about leaving the PWM connected. In common with most other similar controllers it has 6 terminals - 2 for solar panels + & -; 2 for battery + & -; 2 for load + & -. So I should be ok just to feed the battery to the battery terminals of the PWM & feed the relay off it's...

Missing feature - voltage level monitor

It's a question about my solar energy setup again. I used to have a cheap ebay MPPT charge controller to regulate the power coming from my solar panels into my 2 leisure batteries configured as a nominal 12V parallel pair. Discovered it wasn't MPPT, it was a PWM design. Went out and bought a...

    cells in mixed connection

Excellent analogy about the cars thanks. It's a multichoice question aimed at generating class discussion.. I understand the correct answer is theoretically ?

Can anyone explain the voltage arising from a mix of batteries. for example, see sketch

    Lead-Acid temperature compensation in charging

I have this new charge controller for my solar power system. One of it's features is 'temperature compensation' and it has something to do with changing how the battery is charged depending on it's temperature. The 'temperature compensation' feature is adjustable in programming and is measured...

    Resistance of dark solar panel

Did just that & got 80V out of 6 panels, which rapidly fell cause it was dusk. Pitch black outside now & the MPPT & my multimeter agree the panels are providing 0.1V from what.. scattered light.. moonlight.. stars.. Fingers crossed for sun-up :-) hope the wires don't melt

    Resistance of dark solar panel

Conventional flow versus electron flow.. I always get it wrong. I must write out 1000 times "The arrow does NOT show the way the electrons go". Thanks :-) Would I actually need a seperate reverse diode across each bank? If, at the controller, I simply solder together + from one string and -...

    Resistance of dark solar panel

got a response from manufacturer and they said; I sent them a schematic of my understanding of that, to check if I've understood right. file attached.

    Resistance of dark solar panel

They're all fixed in place on the building, and if I could get one down, the box on the back that houses the terminations is a sealed affair - rather not break the seal if at all possible. So measuring would be preferable. I do have one string in series with the ends of the array easily...

    Resistance of dark solar panel

Seeing as I'm going to have two pairs of leads sprouting out the wall next to the controller box, one pair from each set of 3 series panels, each providing a variable voltage from 0 to say 60 VDC, 'connecting the two arrays in parallel with protective diodes to prevent one array feeding back...
