    Explain strange behavior in 74HC04

I agree 100% with everything BobK says. I will add that the wire you are attaching to the input of your gate is likely acting as an aerial and picking up mains hum of 50 or 60Hz depending on your country. You have created a 50 or 60Hz oscillator - albeit an unreliable and undependable one.

[Woo woo] Electricity Generation through Sitting

Why not maximise energy harvesting by additionally provide a hole in the centre of the seat to collect wind power? A small turbine to convert the wind into electricity and then a small methane burner feeding a generator. Then there is sniffing, blinking, sneezing - all sources of energy going...

    Help with a circuit question

Since this is your homework, I think you should tell us what you think will happen in each case 1, 2, 3, 4. Then we can discuss any flaws in your arguments... Simply "answering the question" for you is not what homework help is about. Do we assume that nothing is connected to input and output?

A Special Place In Hell For Yahoo

I live in England, so have neither of those options. I pay for Sky Broadband - and they give us this garbage. Wouldn't mind if it was a free service, but I am paying good money to be treated like dirt. As an added bonus my mail software spends 99% of it's time downloading advertising, and...

A Special Place In Hell For Yahoo

I am with you 100%. They should all be exterminated. My provider moved me (and millions of others) from their email server to Yahoo. It was hyped as an "improvement". Somebody told me that the fire in hell is seven times hotter than fire as we understand it. Still not as hot as Yahoo deserve...

For Sale: All sorts for sale

I am really sorry to have strung you along. After much soul searching, my head must rule my heart, and I must decline. I really, really WANT the 60V PSU and the price looks spot on, but I just cannot justify the expense for something I don't NEED. I wish you luck though, and again..... sorry...

For Sale: All sorts for sale

PM sent. Not sure if it worked. Maybe you or I have too few posts for PM. EDIT: - or much more likely - I cannot work the PM system :o

For Sale: All sorts for sale

The power supplies are tempting, but the prices are not, as they are close to new prices (admittedly minus VAT and Post). I will be passing Oxford (without the Shire) on A34 on Sunday. Might you come down on prices for a cash caller Sunday? EDIT PM is fine, and probably what I should have used :)

    Ionic Breeze Repair

1 What follows is personal view only - feel free to ignore 2 I had one of those ionisers once - believed the hype - all I got was a grubby wall. 3 My current view is that these devices are more hype than substance. Complete waste of money, unless believing is what matters. 4 If you still...

    information about generator

No. You cannot get more Watts out than you put in. The motor is far too weak to drive the generator. A 3000 Watt motor might be powerful enough to drive a 2500 Watt generator.

    high IR led power?

150mA pulsed at 38kHz is fine, as this gives an average current of 75mA. You need to be very careful that your LED is never left on though, otherwise you may drastically shorten its life. For instance, if you are using a microcontroller, make sure that a rest condition does not allow the LED to...

hi! i need a programmer for my pic16f84

Wrong! You need a genuine PICkit2, PICkit3 or ICD3 programmer / debugger. Anything else is a waste of money and will end up being a terrible disappointment. (oh... unless you are using mikroElektronika tools, in which case a mikroElektronika programmer or development board is the way to go)...

    Need help for 12F675

PIC12F675 GP3 is DIGITAL input only (if not used as reset pin). It is impossible to have one analogue input and 5 digital outputs with this PIC. Also, your circuit for analogue input will not work. It will always show as "high" whatever your potentiometer setting. What you want is impossible...

Who is this manufacturer? Data sheet?

The more I look, the more it looks like the Thomson logo. It appears to be a stylised Eiffel Tower within a hexagon. I agree with CocaCola that it would be hard to know what company to chase now. There have been so many mergers and splits.

Who is this manufacturer? Data sheet?

http://how-to.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_identify_integrated_circuit_(chip)_manufacturers_by_their_logos Ooops, sorry. This is no good. It is for chips only :o (looks like the SGS Thomson logo to me though)

    invention/adapter

Can't see how you will ever sell enough of these devices to recoup the development costs. This invention avoids the problem rather than fixing it. Your gadget may be cheaper than a proper fix, but a proper fix is worth paying more for. Lazy people (there are plenty of us) might be glad of this...

    Generating a 5V Clock Signal

Looks good to me! I would say that the inverter is unnecessary, as the oscillator probably has high drive capability. ... but leave the inverter in if it makes you happy, as it does no harm other than to waste a chip.

    Generating a 5V Clock Signal

Sounds good to me. You make no mention of pin 8 output to your circuit, but I am assuming that is connected. I reckon that should be all you need. All I can think of to try further might be: Put a 0.1uF decoupling capacitor across 5v supply as close as possible to the oscillator. I trust you...
