Common Emitter Amplifier - Class B

point taken Yes it does. By definition a class A amplifier conducts over the full 360°. If it does not conduct over the full 360° it is not class A. The device *is* correctly biased for operation as a class B amplifier. There are no requirement under the definition of 'Class B' that more...

    Cooktop Igniter

Not even battery. At least on my grill, they are strictly mechanical in (push the button), HV (spark) out.

Common Emitter Amplifier - Class B

Class A is defined as the active device conducting over 360° of the input waveform. Here is the sim showing the input voltage and the transistor Ic. Are you really going to tell me you see the transistor conducting over the full 360° of the input waveform?

Common Emitter Amplifier - Class B

And if it is biased so that there is no current flowing, then it is likely in class C. Class B means 180° conduction angle. Impossible to maintain in real life. What I posted has 3 uA of idle current. About as close to Class B as you are going to get.

Common Emitter Amplifier - Class B

Works fine in the proper application. 10 MHz class B.

Common Emitter Amplifier - Class B

Class B is defined as an operating point such that the active device conducts over 180° of the input signal. If you take your circuit and add a bias network that holds the bias at a point where the transistor is *just* starting to conduct, you will have a class B amplifier. In the single ended...

Low noise power supply - linear?

Definitely a linear supply. Or if you really want a quiet supply, then use batteries.

Help me please to get a good night's sleep!

No, the traditional cure is a sleep study and likely a CPAP unit. Alternate treatments include surgery or implants.

    Capacitor Knowledge Wanted

three sig figs instead of two sig figs and a multiplier. Not too uncommon. That's why a capacitance meter is a good investment.

    Capacitor Knowledge Wanted

No, 22u. Dot towards the negative. I just seem to remember using caps of this shape at one time and they were tants. The shape just doesn't look quite right to be ceramic. I'm not trying to argue that the *are* tants, just was checking out the possibility.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, looking at the first pix of the "220" yellow ones screamed "Tantalum". Just making sure.

Changing a positive and negative audio signal to positive only

Will clamp at 1 diode drop *below* ground.

Changing a positive and negative audio signal to positive only

This one is a 'clamp', it auto-adjusts to keep the negative peaks at zero.

is this a Diode? I need to replace what values I should search for?

Both the 'diode' (if that is what it is) and the capacitor to it's left are not properly positioned on the pads. I think you have more problems there than a bad diode.

Old books and magazines on the World Radio History site.

Back in high school (late 60's) I remember reading a series in one of the electronics magazine where a guy put together novel circuits to solve problems. Almost like a 'crime fighter' series, but there weren't any crimes and the problems were solved with electronic inventions. I have not been...

    diode question

Picture a perfect diode with a effective series resistor. While the junction voltage does drop with temperature, the voltage drop across those internal effective resistors increase with an increase in current. Similar (though not exactly) like the ballast resistors you need to add the the...
