    There is a R0 bottom left on board. Some reddish line between the 2 contacts. Isn't a R0 normally a fuse? Not getting continuity if it is a fuse

    I disconnected the electromagnet and connected two multimeters to R/B (high ohm) lines and R/Y (low ohms) lines. Fired up the geyser and on the R/B line meter jumped around about 1 - 2.3V.     Thanks Harald Yes, the board does not look very clean because I have depotted the board to get to the components. Remnants of the potting can be seen in top right hand corner.     I'm no expert so we need somebody like @73's de Edd now. The 146V you saw on the bridge rectifier should also also be present on the big cap. If you are going to remove the big cap have a look at the tracks to and from the cap and see that they are good. Still worried about the charred tracks...

    That one leg of D24 looks as if heat unsoldered it. And the track has burned. Check for continuity between that leg and the other end where that track goes.

    Please have a close look at your soldering around C823 and check that the legs are connected to what they need to connect and do not connect to bits that they shouldn't connect to. I can't see what's going on at the left leg of C823. Don't like the looks of that bit to the left of the left leg
