Koford (Slot Car) Bench Power Supply Project

Bear in mind that a switch mode converter does for DC the same that a transformer does for AC, ie. it changes the ratio of input to output voltages without changing the power. So supplying 4V 1.3A (5.2W) for your motor will take only 0.41A from your 12.6V supply, and the bridge rectifier will...

American to UK electrics help needed urgently please

The point I was making was that if it uses a switch mode supply there is probably no need (and no provision) for a switch to select the supply voltage.

American to UK electrics help needed urgently please

A lot ot modern equipment seems to be powered by switch mode supplies that have a universal 100-240V input. If you haven't bought it yet, ask the supplier to confirm whether it is OK for 230V.

Koford (Slot Car) Bench Power Supply Project

I am going on the 503 marked on the pot shown in the picture. I have no reason to think they will have changed it, but if you want to be sure wait till your module arrives.

Koford (Slot Car) Bench Power Supply Project

If you are talking about the switch mode module, then don't change the value of the pot - it is part of the design. That particular module I mentioned needs a 50K linear. It is worth remembering that it will give a max output voltage of supply voltage minus1V, and is up to 98% efficient so...

Koford (Slot Car) Bench Power Supply Project

Earlier in the thread Gryd3 suggested a switch mode supply. Might this be your answer? Any output voltage up to within 1V of the supply and with a maximum output of 15A...

Will an AOC - 23.6" LED HD Monitor work with my OLD PC?

    Kris, the PC's Control Panel says it uses the Intel 82945G Express Chipset family. Available resolution choices are: 800 x 600 1024 x 768 1152 x 864 1280 x 720 1280 x 768 1280 x 1024 I don't know that much about the 'innards' of a PC, but the spec is here...

Will an AOC - 23.6" LED HD Monitor work with my OLD PC?

I use an Dell GX620 (VGA output from its original graphics card) with a 17" Targa 'Visionary' flat screen monitor. From 'Display' in the PC's control panel I can choose from 5 display resolutions from 800 x 800 to 1280 x 1024

How to replace old power cord with polarized cord for 1955 Zenith T825

From the link http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/zenith_t825_t_825_ch8t01_8_t_01.html I found the spec on this receiver. It had 8 tubes with 300mA heaters totalling 114V, and a selenium rectifier. The power supply was specified as 117VAC, so the heaters would have been connected in series directly...

Simplest antenna for 5.8GHz 200mW transmitter to allow 100M range

The 12.3mm given by the makers is right. Signals travel slower in a piece of wire than in air because the wire has inductance. The ratio between the two is the 'velocity factor' and the figure of 0.93 they have used is about right. Use a piece of wire and connect one end to the to the aerial...

Any wide range input VDC ATX power source?

I thought the input to an ATX was specified as 110v or 240V nominal. My error.

    RC Transmitter problem

Your scanning period is shorter than the period of the entire waveform sequence. Hence successive scans are overlaying earlier parts of the waveform.

Step-down transformer suddenly stopped working - but why?

The link shows a 24V centre tapped winding, so the output probably goes into a bi-phase rectifier inside the equipment. If so, you may be able to use something like this, which would run cooler than the original transformer...

Step-down transformer suddenly stopped working - but why?

I don't think he has established there is no current going through the primary. He only mentions a multimeter set to 240V range, so he is only checking that it has a supply. @mylop. Remove the unit from the supply, ie. pull the plug, and using your MM set to an ohms range measure for continuity...

Router debricking > Help in defining the right connector

If when you make the mistake and the firmware doesn’t work (presumably it did before your action) then you have rendered the unit faulty. If putting the fault right is not repairing it, then we speak different languages.

Router debricking > Help in defining the right connector

Dictionary definition: re·pair [ri-pair] verb (used with object) 1. to restore to a good or sound condition after decay or damage; mend: to repair a motor. 2. to restore or renew by any process of making good, strengthening, etc.: to repair one's health by resting. 3. to remedy; make...

    Small dc motor controller options

I had a look at the Apex manual, but it really needs hands-on experience to know what it was talking about, so I tried various Youtube uploads instead. They were all just sales patter describing in a nebulous way what the unit would do. I discovered that you can feed your fish and watch them...
