    The shape of schematic components

Hi, I'm making a schematic, with a 44PIN PIC and I want to place 4x 11strip connectors so that I can connect to each pin on the PIC, on a test PCB. For me to connect PIN1 to PIN1 on connector 1, then PIN2 to PIN2 on connector 1 and so on, it will be a tangle of wires. Why aren't the schematic...

    Camera leveller

Hi, I've just re-read this thread:eek: I hope that over the years, I've got a bit better at asking and explaining questions. I would like to thank NickS again for his endless patience. I hope to explain a little how it works: I dismantled two small clock that had balance wheels in them. I cut...

Converting decimal LAT/LON to NMEA format

Hi A, Not to worry, it happens all of the time:) I scanned your link and I think it shows variations of looking up using google, but I wanted an equation. Whether on your link or another I found an equation written in 'C', which mentions FLOOR, that I had never heard of and I can't read 'C'...

Converting decimal LAT/LON to NMEA format

Hi A, You may have got the wrong idea! I need to 'make' some test NMEA sentences, from map references. When I say Cut and paste, I mean find result needed for NMEA from a calculation, and cut and paste it into the NMEA relevant slot. C.

Converting decimal LAT/LON to NMEA format

Hi, I need a program in preferably 'Oshonsoft PIC basic' or 'Excel' or another basic program, that will convert a decimal LAT/LON from 'say' Google maps to the NMEA format. E,g, ?????.????? ?????.????? $GPGGA,123456,?????.?????,N,?????.?????,W,1,04,1.80,100.0,M,47.7,M,,*7F? I'm...

    Impedance matching?

Hi, I have a Sansa clip MP3 player and a PURE move portable radio. I am trying to get the player to work with the aux in of the radio. The radio doesn't have a volume for aux, but if I turn the player up so I can hear it, the radio cuts out for a second. I assume this is impedance matching...

    RC Transmitter problem

My oscilloscope is quite old, and I use it as a guide, so doesn't have magnifiers etc. I'll have a look at what you suggest, to see if I can see later parts of the 'magnified' wave. Thanks for your suggestions. Cheers, Camerart.

    RC Transmitter problem

The trigger hold off on my scope doesn't have the range to completely get rid of it, but now I am aware of it, I can 'see through' the readings. Thanks, Camerart.

    RC Transmitter problem

Yes, I tried moving the other channels and indeed they moved independently from the first two. Thanks Pebe.

    RC Transmitter problem

Hi, I am trying to connect a radio transmitter to a TX module to get it to work as it should. There is something wrong with either the transmitter signal, or some other thing. I put the output of the transmitter into an oscilloscope and here is what I see:- This shows the channels...

    Linear Generator

Thanks Laplace, I see they have made their generator square instead round as I have done. I would have thought logically it should be round, I'm sure they know better. I'm glad you said "Skip the Mathematics" it looses me. I think a knowledge of mathematics is needed in order to actually...

    Linear Generator

I am experimenting with a Linear Generator. I have made a generator based on the shake Torch. This is a tube with a coil round it, and a magnet going backwards and forwards inside the coil. It works ok, but I think there must be a better way to do it. Is there anyone who knows the best...

    Coil amplifier

My set up amplifies a signal from a wire, where a Metal detector sends it's own signal. It's a bit different, see if there is a section about metal detectors. Sorry can't help.

Amp, 0.1v to 10v AC Input to 5v DC output

Hi, I am trying to convert varying 0.1 to 10V Approx AC input from a Coil to give a 0 to 5v output that I can input an A/D converter on a PIC chip. There are 2X inputs that I compare. I have tried Op amp circuits, but after many attempts, I can't seem to get consistency. Is it...

    Coil winding

The wax is to hold the coils till they are sealed. Then I use super glue to hold the windings in place, but there is no heat involved. I once worked at a motor factory where they soaked the coils in resin and baked them, but the motors were going to be vibrated in use. I presume you will...

    Coil winding

I'm no expert. When I wound some pickup coils, I used tubular Ferromagnetic cores. Put a nut and bolt through, then put in a machine chuck. (drill, lathe etc) Then put a gentle tension on the wire as it winds, this helps to be more consistent. I think that winding like a basket makes them...

    Coil amplifier

I made a coil amplifier a year or so ago, for locating a signal wire position. It gives 2X outputs, and connects to a PIC A/D inputs for the calculation. See attachment: It has caused problems from the start. It wasn't strong enough, so 2X transistors were added 'TR1 TR2' a second Diode...
