Running house LED lights on AC

I took apart an LED light an measured the current and voltage to the actual LEDs inside and I measured the current going into the from the wall.

Running house LED lights on AC

I don't know whether to classify this idea as hairbrained or not half-baked. Regardless, I'm not taking this very seriously. So if you'd like to have a bit of fun, read on. I've been thinking a great deal about the power lost in the LED lights I have in my house. They all contain AC-DC power...

I want to make DC-DC voltage booster

I'd try to power your modem once with batteries. I'd guess that if your city has no power your internet company will also lack power. Thus no internet :\ If you can in fact get internet with battery power we can cook up a boost converter for you. You have all the parts you need in that kit. It...

    Continuity Tester for Codger...

You could even open up your meter and replace the buzzer with an LED. Drill a hole in the case and put the LED in there. Good luck finding out the voltage of the buzzer with your DMM in pieces :D

    Power supply efficiency

Thank you, your post encouraged me to not trust ratings. I just tested the efficiency of my laptop's power supply. Which was a somewhat hazardous affair with a tangle 120 VAC alligator clips running between the plug and my multimeter. While charging my computer the charger drew 0.5 A from the...

Oh for fixing remotes the silver paste works well.

    Electric paint ...

Hahaha Thats very pragmatic Pikkie it's ~$8 the only way you'll know if you like it is if you buy it. The question with it though is what its resistance per cm, or so. It be pretty useless if the paste sucks up all the power before the LED gets its fill. I personally don't see that stuff being...

    Power supply efficiency

I was looking at this here power supply, https://www.amazon.com/Generic-Replacement-Adapter-Inspiron-19-5V-3-34A/dp/B003U8HV4M It outputs 19 V at 3.34 A for a Wattage of 65W. Input is (Lets say) 120 V at 1.2A, I think the power there is 144W. Does this mean that ~80W is wasted, and that the...

That makes a ton of sense, thank you

    Audio Amp vs Op-amp?

Hey guys, I'm working on a simple audio based light show for school. It has frequency dependant filters whose outputs power LEDs. The effect of this is to visualize the amplitude of certain frequencies in a song. As a part of this project I need to power a speaker. So I went to my schools shop...

Relationship between theta and theta v theta i

Hi guys, I'm working with AC circuits. I have the equations for avg power and reactive power. P and Q resp. Those equations have a compent sin/cos (theta v - theta I) . Additionally P Q and S (complex power) form a triangle whose angle PS is Theta. Is theta=theta v - theta I? I feel like this...

Fanstastic! A quick follow up question, in what ways do you change your writing if your write the public vs a colleague?

    VU meter with zener diodes?

Hello guys, For my electronics course I've been given an open ended problem to create a light show that reacts to music. I'm going to use some filters to have an analog voltage output proportional to the amplitude of the frequencies in that band. I don't have any questions about that portion...

Want to answer a few questions for my technical writing class?

Hi guys, So I've been given the assignment to ask people in technical fields how they use writing. If you feel like answering one or all of the questions I've written I'd really appreciate it. (Optional) What is/was your job and what did you do there? What kinds of documents have you written...

    Don't connect vs no connect

My professor was showing us a datasheet in class. Unfortunately I don't remember the part number. Although it was a OTP EPROM (So much contradiction in that name hahaha)

    Don't connect vs no connect

Ahh, that is a very important distinction. Another quick question, would you consider it "good practice" to use the NC pins as vias?

    Don't connect vs no connect

I came across an IC that had pins labeled no connect and don't connect. This was on the same IC. What's the difference and what should I do with each?

Function generator output oscillations in an RLC circuit

Thank you for helping me with my terminology, there are so many things in electronics that all have different names so I gotta get them straight so I don't confuse the poor people trying to help me XD Yeah, overshoot is what's going on here. From what I've read just now it has to do with the...
