    CDI ignition head scratcher

The only reason I sugest an analoge meter, is fluctuating voltages are difficult to read with digital meters. I also tryd feeding the module with 12V DC to see if it would work but no luck. Also these test were done on a Kippor 2600 generator basicly the same as yours.

    CDI ignition head scratcher

You should get 5V AC pulse readings on ignition coil primary using an analogue meter. Heres a picture using a capacitor across the coil ( if you don't use the capacitor you wont get a spark), & flashing 6V DC across it, you should get sparks on the plug if the coil is ok. .

    CDI ignition head scratcher

I found checking ignite power using a digital meter not all that good when cranking. Using an Analougue multimeter on AC mutch better & got 10V AC when cranking. You could possibly as a last resort try feeding 12V into the module as a CDI ignition system will have a rectifier in there as they...

    CDI ignition head scratcher

Your voltages are about right for pullstart. I have the same type of generator, disconnect the kill switch & the oil level switch these are known problems with these generators. The ignition system is a CDI type.

    Partially shaded solar panels

The Cells are in series & any shade will significantly reduce the output. I have a 1.5Kw solar system & in the wintertime when the sun is low for about 2hours a pole creates a shadow about one foot wide. Which passes over the panels, this reduces the output to only a couple of hundred watts if...

    CDI repair

What brand & model jetski is it? Pictures of the CDI unit would be helpful. If it has a HV inverter built in , then power it up & see if theres voltage across the capacitor. If theres no voltage the inverter is faulty. The capacitor doesn't normaly fail. Its usualy the inverter or the SCR which...

    A device to defeat robocalls

Change your phone from your carrier to phone over the internet. Once I did this I had a new number cheeper calls. Also the new number is harder for robo calls to find. So unless you are handing out your phone number the calls have stoped.

Capacitor ESR Testing: do you? Should I? How to?...

Heres 3 different testers ive built over the years. Two of them are the cheep Ebay component testers which ive found very usefull. The other is just an ESR Capacitor tester which ive built about 20yrs ago & still use. The capacitor in the test is a motor run capacitor, & the value shown is what...

    Tv on a boat.

Here in Australia lots of people who holiday in caravans use TVs like you have straight of there 12V DC battery system. They don't seem to have any problems with there voltage. It will be about 12V & then 14V when the battery is being charged. You don't need a DC-DC supply.

    Thermocouple RF Ammeter

Thaught I would see what my RF Ammeter would read on a UHF CB into a 50 ohm dummy load. Working on RF = I squared x R, .23A current & 50 Ohm load was about 2.6 Watt. Reads a bout half what the transmitter is rated at.

Can anyone identify this type of connector?

I quite often get plugs from the wreckers & remove the pins & re use them to repair wiring looms that are faulty. Usualy get them for free.

    Pot Core dismantling

I dismantle small SMPS ferrite transformers to rewind. How I do it is use an old Microwave oven, put the core in the oven & heat it up until the glue softens. I usualy use a time of about 2 min lots until the halves can be separated. This is hard on the Magnetron but I am using an old oven &...
