    I need a relaying system

simple! you can use the principle that water with some impurities is a good conductor of electricity(assuming ur water is not 100% pure) the circuit would be complete, use this current to cause a voltage drop across a resistor, feed this voltage to the base of a transistor,it will turn on...

    MULTIMETER

hi audioguru! so in that sense anything less than 40 ohms is continuity ! mine is same too!it gives a beep even b/w supply and ground in my circuit. ;D

hi audioguru! sorry for the post at the wrong place.could u please have a look at the topic of MULTIMETER in chit chat section and help me out!i am in deep trouble ???

hi audioguru! any comment from you on the topic.when does a multimeter give a beep? help! ::)

    voice activated door locking system

hi alun! even a pentium processor would do the job for him.ultimately that is also a controller!  he may write a program to send a data to a parallel port and  send back some data from the card to PC. some programming in C would be a required.somewhat similar to a hardware lock.anyhow alun,do u...

    MULTIMETER

hi steven! earlier i had the misconception that beep comes when the points are short circuited. but i was surprised when i connected the meter b/w supply and ground and gave the beep!!!!!!!!!! by the way the continuity which u are talking about, what is that i mean to what resistance level we...

    voice activated door locking system

i dont much about bar code and magnetic strip  detectors but atleast i know it is 99% similar to your cassette player principle. u have to have a magnetic pattern on a card like the ATM CARD.

    MULTIMETER

hi steven! i think it should also give a beep with high resistance in continuity. but it gives no beep across a say 10k resistor connected on my PCB. EVEN IF I TEST IT OPEN CKTED, SIMILAR BEHAVIOUR IS NOTICED,BUT I HAVE NOTICED THAT IT CONSIDERS AROUND 50 OHMS FOR GIVING A BEEP. NO BEEP FOR MORE...

    Which is the best breadboard.

yeah! quite good during the testing phase.otherwise waste  a long time  and PCB money for testing a ckt which u have just designed ;D

    MULTIMETER

i have no manual with it.but one thing is certain,it gives a beep when a certain maximum resistance is in the path and i am going to find it soon.plz help! if anyone has already done it.in other words what is continuity? ;D

    LIGHTENING STRIKES

hi MP! WE assume -ve charge on cloud bottom and +ve on the earth.is it merely an assumption i.e can  we assume the reverse?or there is a logic behind it? :o

    MULTIMETER

HI ALL! TILL NOW I HAD THE PERCEPTION THAT A MULTIMETER GIVES A BEEP WHEN ITS 2  TERMINALS ARE SHORTED.BUT TODAY ONLY I CONNECTED A 4.7k RESISTOR TO MY SUPPLY AND CONNECTED THE MULTIMETER ACROSS THE RESISTOR AND IT GAVE THE BEEP.WHAT IS THE CONDITION FOR THIS BEEP? WHAT IS ITS SIGNIFICANCE? PLZ...

    LIGHTENING STRIKES

no ante! i dont mean that it is AC. I mean to say that  u may consider any one of them (the cloud or the ground) as +ve or -ve ultimately it is the flow of charge which neutralizes the 2. if we assume opposite, the direction of current is reversed. Now whether +ve neutralizes the -ve or the -ve...

    Ideas for a New Project

    LIGHTENING STRIKES

anyway dazza! u can assume anything whether it flows from clouds to ground or ground to clouds, +ve in one case -ve in other. So fast moving air separates the vapours in the clouds and makes them oppositely charged this induces opposide charge on earth(i mean opposite to charge on lower cloud)...

    do we pay less?

yeah! this is what i mean the link given by you says the torque is proportional to V*I. but actually it is proportional to the product of 2 currents in coils I1*I2. but since potential coil has high resistance, the voltage drop is what we consider(simple ohms law) so it becomes I1*V2.i.e power in...
