    You could try replacing the 2 small elctrolytics near the IC, one of them goes to Vcc pin7. If this doesnt work then probably replace the IC.

    If theres hardly any life in the machine, check the voltages from the power supply. Probably needs all the electrolytic capacitors replaced in the power supply. Fairly common fault in older machines. Probably why the display is weak. Use low ESR & 105 degree C capacitors.

    I had a similar problem, theres 2 x 3term regulators one pos other neg 5V. Check you haven't soldered them in the wrong position or around the wrong way. They are hard to read.

    When the engine dies the first things I check when trying to start it, is there Spark & are there pulses at the injectors when cranking. Also ive had faulty intermittent relay that feeds power to the ECU, that took awhile to find as it was intermittent.
