    4017 Decade counter

    Any clock source can be use to the input of 4017. Even a mechanical switch can be use. But I'm not sure if 4017 High Output current can drive the LED. Never tried it before.:confused:

    Probably. But it's much better if you take the advice of Davenn . Connect your multimeter probe to terminals of potentiometer and observe multimeter reading corresponding to the shaft movement. This more accurate to determine correct type of pot.

    The purpose of diodes connected to Q output was to Turn On LED in the event that any Q output goes High.

    Remove dc supply of your circuit. Test continuity of your wiring before applying dc voltage. Set your multimeter to resistance test. Touch the 2 probe and be sure your Multimeter reads 0 - 2 ohms . Then test continuity of each wire, switch, continuity of supply and line of proto board...

    Try using 2meg pot. If not satisfied with sound result. Series 3meg resistor to 2 meg pot. You can try these combination 3m then the pot or 1.5m - pot- 1.5m or pot - 3 m. depends of volume you of preamp you need. Buy 2 meg pot with same for letter written on original pot body. ( A or B)

    The only way we can assume the zener voltage value was you have to trace the portion of circuit.. Much better if you include voltage value of capacitors, name of ic, optocuplers etch connected to defective of the zener diode.. Post that portion of schematic. Then, we can help you.:)

    Remove the defective zener first then read hidden label around the zener using magnifying glass.
