I like the visual metronome idea. Was planning to hook you up to the lie detector Martin. Lol

AG. You wrote. The input and output coupling capacitors pass the AC audio but block the DC another naive question. I always thought the term AC refers to alternating current, as in Tesla and the current that comes out of household outlets. AC audio?

Requesting Ideas for my Next Venture

Martin. I think that’s a good idea. I was planning to do the experimental stuff on a breadboard. I also have three aluminium boxes coming and with them, I was going to try the stomp box switch, led and buffered by pass. I am also looking for a new project that is different from a pedal, just...

Requesting Ideas for my Next Venture

I am relatively new to electronics and have most recently graduated from successfully building a distortion pedal for my guitar (With thanks to Bertus, AG, Harald and others). I am now looking for my next project. Here is my criteria: Must not be too complex (I am a newbie) Must have a...

    Geting Grounded

I also found this link from the link you provided. This one is great and will likely save me from asking a lot of questions. I am printing out these guides as I type and plan to read them in detail. https://diyeffectspedals.com/beginners-guides/ Thanks again!

    Geting Grounded

Thanks Bertus. That was very useful Bertus. I am starting to see how that would make my life easier. Bertus- that link has a lot of treasures, Check this out: https://diyeffectspedals.com/pcb-to-guitar-pedal/

Thank-you. Are you suggesting I just solder a bare wire across 1 to 10 or A to Z?

    Back to the Breadboard

I did another build with my iron at 317. The diodes worked. Maybe I had been frying them previously.

    Back to the Breadboard

What I find amazing about this cheap build, is the following. With professional pedals (such as my Fultone OCD) which cost me over $200.00, you get great distortion, but not a lot of control over definition. You get control over degree of distortion, but not so much, definition. With the cheap...

    Back to the Breadboard

Here is a pic sure of two completed pedals. They both work!!!!!! Both are using the 4558D chip. Both are housed in wooden boxes that I bought for $2.00 at the dollar store. They are great for prototyping. I have a few steel boxes being delivered. My next goal is to learn how to connect a true...

You're probably right. A little surprising however as the gentleman who posted it, makes a living out of building pedals- Wampler

    Geting Grounded

Thank-you Harald and Bertus. I am not quite there yet, mainly because I have a ton of PCB boards. For now., I was looking for tips on how to wire to ground in that context, in a tidy way. But thank-you. Maybe when I graduate to the next level of my learning, I'll switch to stripbaord and software.

    Geting Grounded

I am still learning about circuit building. Presently, I am using PCB circuits. I plan to stick to that, as it is my preference. I know there are Vero boards etc., and I have tried them, but they are just not for me. One of the issues I encounter when using PCB boards is grounding. Presently ...

    Back to the Breadboard

@AG.... In my builds, I have used the original schematic for the voltage divider part of the circuit. I have also tried using your alternate version, whereby you are using 100K resistors and 10uF capacitors. I have done so many builds that failed and that succeeded, that I have lost track of...

    Back to the Breadboard

I will use your recommendations on the next build. I may be running my iron too hot (it's at 450), because I think I am frying diodes. I swapped the diodes for red LEDs and the circuit worked and produced great sounding distortion.
