Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

I put this project together in a wooden box I bought at the dollar store. This pedal is not going to be used on stage at all. It’s just a project. However, I am getting a terrible buzzing noise which almost overrides the sound. I think this is a grounding issue? as I recall, all my grounds...

Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

Thanks guys. To be brutally honest, it would eb very difficult for me to tackle electronics in a more serious way. If time permitted, I'd love to take electronic course, but my life is such that i have to squeeze time in for hobbies. However, i will be away in a fw weeks for 10 days and i'll...

Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

Thanks guys. @Audioguru- it is the schematic in the very first post. But I don't expect you to hunt it down and I don't know how to link directly tot he diagram. I am in the process of building a modular approach that will enable me to experiment and mix and match opams, diodes and capacitors...

Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

Hi guys. @Audioguru. unless I am getting my circuits confused, I believe I already built that circuit. Once I did that (or another that i may have it confused with), I went back to the schematic I posted here, and decided to build that one on a PCB. Two things really helped me breakthrough...

Lessons Learned and When the Chips Are Down

Some of you may know that with the help of this forum, I have finally succeeded in building a guitar overdrive stompbox circuit that was beyond me. That thread is here:https://www.electronicspoint.com/forums/threads/a-stretch.293212/ Here's some of the things that I think I learned, and also a...

    LED and Switch for circuit

I built the circuit with Bertus's schematic which placed the capacitors with the correct polarities. I think i will still to an old school switch that says On/Off on it anbd avoid the LED thing altogether, although good to know how to calculate resistor value.

    LED and Switch for circuit

Thank-you. How do I figure out the value of the limiting resistor? I know OHMs law. I know the voltage 9V...but I am not sure how to figure out the current

    LED and Switch for circuit

As some of you know, I have finally suceeded in building a guitar effects box, thanks to all the help I received here :) This is the schematic I used. https://www.electronicspoint.com/forums/attachments/screen-shot-2020-06-22-at-10-21-12-pm-jpg.48602/ I am now in the process of putting it...

Need help interpreting something on a schematic

Thanks Audioguru. For the moment, all the projects i tackle, are just excersizes for me to build my knowledge level and skill. I've come a long way. although it may not be apparent ;-) as an aside, i am a performing musician. When I play on stage, I hav a small pedal board which consists of...

Need help interpreting something on a schematic

Thanks Audioguru. I have a ton of 4558Ds and was lookign for a use for them. i also read this on this web page.https://www.neatcircuits.com/doctor_pedal.htmhttps://www.neatcircuits.com/op_amp.htm The 4558 opamp is probably the most popular audio opamp in most pedals. Particularly the JRC4558...

Need help interpreting something on a schematic

Thanks to you both for the grest insights. I initially thought this would be a very simple circuit to create, as it dors not look like there is much to it. I'm not sure I will tackle this one. It sounds as thoiught there are things missing frommit that you have graciously pointed out. being a...

Need help interpreting something on a schematic

I wonder if you could help me with a few things on the attached schematic: 1. There is the word "Drive" right below the 150k text. Is he simply saying that a 150K resistor needs to be placed there? I am confused because having that arrow pointing down makes it look like a potentiometer. Can...

    25 PF Capacitor sub

Thanks guys. i used the 27pF. Bertus, thanks for the article. I am making it a point to go back to this circuit once I compete it, and begin to understand it theoretically. I think that is an important part of my learning. Otherwise, i am simply doing a paint by numbers thing.

    25 PF Capacitor sub

I hope I am not driving you folks nuts with my questions. I was at the elctronics store today, so i decided to pick up some 25pF capacitors. They only had 22pF and 27pF. I bought some of each. Which would you think is best to use for this circuit...

    25 PF Capacitor sub

It's this same one I have been rebuilding on stripbaord. https://www.electronicspoint.com/forums/threads/a-stretch.293212/page-9#post-1801204. C3 I was able to salvage two capacitors that total 25Pf from another iteration.

    25 PF Capacitor sub

A circuit I am building calls for a 25 pF capacitor. There is no polarity shown, so I assume it is a film capacitor. It is a guitar pedal distortion circuit. I don't have 25 pF capacitiors . You'd think with all these kits I bought I'd be able to cobble one up, but I am not sure I can. Does...
