It looks like you have some major problems with your software. It has probably been too well cleaned out after the spy ware visit I am afraid. If your cleaning software creates a backup of the files then maybe you can reverse the process and start over.

You need to convert the output (10mV/degF) to pulses that can control the opto isolator triac. The lower the temperature the longer the pulses should be until it reaches the desired temperature.

Congratulations, you found a key combination that worked! Well then there is no reason to upgrade yet! ;D Tube scope? I hade one of those 20 years ago and it was old then! It was a Trio Advance scope it weighed about 25 kilos or so.
