    help with LCD power

Wrong. I stand behind my last post. There is nothing there to correct. Audioguru is either mistaken or he does not accept the manufacturer's specs in the data sheet. Below I have posted an excerpt from the data sheet. Also, I use this regulator, so I have had the opportunity to find this out...

    help with LCD power

Bob, I use a lot of LCD displays. They are current hogs. Which one are you using? Without seeing your setup, I can only comment in general terms: One thing you should note is that your regulator needs 2 volts more than the output. Anything above this is just dumped in the form of heat. The...

    Force sensors

Ante, please tell us about your comparison. What differences have you noted. I have not used the LMC660 in any application and so I am curious about what you have found. MP

    part replacement

What are you going on about? None of this matters. I stated that these op-amps are still used in design work and that this would obviously indicate that they "ARE" suitable. If a guy wants to use a 1458 in an audio design, he can. There are places where audioguru's favorite op-amps are not...

    Force sensors

I would recommend that you just use the schematic provided from the site you have posted the link. The LM324 will work in place of the one in the article. Looks like this sensor is a variable resistance output. If so, you can use it as one leg of a resistor divider and calculate your voltage...

Nice clean looking work, Alberto. I have never used a toroid with my CNC. How is it? MP

AC Generator, Expert insight needed please

You will still need a way to regulate this source and to clean it up. The alternators are not going to give you a clean source of energy. How much voltage do you get from your alternators? What is the frequency of the signal on the output? These parameters will have to be converted to a clean...

I was not talking nostalgia. News flash! The manufacturing world is still using them. They are suitable for audio projects. MP

Not sure who you think you are correcting, but Clem does not state that he needs to power this from a 12 V car battery. MP

    The buy/sell forum

Perhaps we could put a note on the buy/sell page suggesting they post a price. It is annoying to read ads with no pricing. It should not take a string of e-mails to find out if something is the price you want to spend. MP

Measuring voltage output of Serial/LPT port

Much nicer to connect and very easy on batteries if you are powering from one. There is also a MAXxxx number which does not use the caps. It is MAX233, if looking to get away from the caps. Rhonn, maybe you can ask for some free samples of these other chips as well. I have attached the data...

There was a description at the top of the page which explained this, so it was not necessary. However, now that it is gone, I would also agree that there should be something on the page which indicates "larger view". MP

Measuring voltage output of Serial/LPT port

No, I would not use the MAX232. Use the DS275. This is the one that I use for my battery powered micro devices. Much nicer on batteries, too. MP

Rhonn, Is this what you are looking for? I would not try for more than 5 mA. MP
