    BTW, if your amp is 8 Ohms, it will be quite happy running 16 Ohm speakers. You’ll lose some overall volume so that may or may not be a problem.

    Not being a @&ck but may be useful to others if you link to it rather than us copy/ pasting or worse, typing. Difficult to say without the data sheet, 8 Ohms isn’t really a short. It also depends on the circuitry around that chip.

    You mean beyond the scope of this thread! I know a man who hates ‘current flow’, he insists that ‘charge flow’ should be used instead. As ‘current flow’ = charge flow flow!. Very pedantic indeed :):) but correct. I say no more…

Again, unfortunately, SMD components don’t have the usual obvious clues to what the components are. Sometimes, they are deliberately labelled in house to avoid copying. But an overview...

    How about you train them? Locking pets in a room is certainly not the answer. They need love and attention. Above all, know their place in the family hierarchy. If you can’t look after them OR control them, give to someone who will.

    I think OP wants visual of pulses and not to just check the fence. To check the fence is working, simply wee on it. Only hurts for a minute:) Your circuit should work although you might want a heftier diode depending on fence voltage.

    Check the capacitors. Don’t forget the SMD ones. If one is shorted, take it off the board and check across the pads again.

    There will be one or possibly two components shorted. Finding them is usually quite straightforward given the symptoms. Your ability or inability to fault find is important here.

    That device is certainly a triac. But what is it controlling?. Transformers are AC, rectification via diodes produces dirty DC and then on to filtering capacitors. You should have X2 capacitors too on the mains input. If they fail short, your symptoms will be the same.
