    I would recommend eutectic 63%Sn/37%Pb solder, with no-clean rosin core flux. It melts or wets as a lower temperature than common 60%Sn/40%Pb rosin core solder.     The footprint or PCB solder pad dimensions are standardized. I would recommend for you, a pre-soldered socket that is first attached to the PCB, and then the USB connector is plugged into the socket, offering easier replacement; easy peasy lemon squeezy… ;)

    They’re simply isn’t enough technical data & this is not your fault. I cannot tell you the sequence of which failures are detected and responded to… you will have to continue with your powers of observation to detect differences in your batteries performance. good luck to you..
