    For testing I would agree however when a system is fully operational it is wise to use this facility to remove the power from the windings else the stepper can overheat - not withstanding any need to keep a 'hold' on the stepper position that is.

    This may indicate that your PSU can't deliver the required current. Can you post the actual manuals you have on that unit?

    Are all the inductors correctly wound? The direction of the windings is critical. Get any one wrong and it won't work.

    How did you 'notice' that? When an oven is in normal use the element doesn't glow (as such) but you can feel it getting hot. It should only 'glow' when the grill setting is used. Heating selector switch?

    The crud doesn't help. If you have a connection diagram you could find out if those pins are the actual pins connecting to the O2 sensor circuit and thus confirm your suspicions. But a small fibreglass pen could clean that up in moments.
