    What Glue

    Don't know what 'brown glue' you're referring to. A lot of what you need will depend on the heat the board is exposed to. No necessarily the heat of the components you intend to glue-down. Is the circuit going to be in a cabinet or enclosure that will get hot?

    The old CMOS chips were pretty static sensitive (newer ones less-so), but you'll find a lot of low-power 'touch-switch' type applications with those. As mentioned by WHONOES, capacitive-coupling from your body.

    I don't know the make and model of your ultrasonic detector, the accuracy you require, or your application. I'd got with Hopup's recommendation that you try a laser. There are too many environmental factors to consider with and ultrasonic, depending on the application.
