    Old rca trouble

By no picture or sound, do you mean the set is 'dead', or that you're just not receiving a signal? Do you have a raster on the screen, with associated 'noise'? You do realize no TV stations in the US transmit the old analog signals your set was designed for, don't you? All the TV signals are all...

    Tin Foil Hats -Phase 2

Why not the whole hand? You never know. The mugger might need a thumb-print if the RFID doesn't work.

I have a fish tank light I need help with the wiring all black wires

I assume it's a plug-in-the-wall type? Flourescent bulbs or LED's? It'd help if you gave us the manufacturer and model, so we can look it up. Why does it have only black wires. Is this a used unit that may have been modified, or a new out-of-the-box one? I'm wondering why it doesn't have a...

    Tin Foil Hats -Phase 2

Assembly Magazine Jan 2018: Three Square Market in Wisconsin (U.S.) now offers implantable RFID tags for people, about the size of a grain of rice, injected between thumb and index finger for $300. CEO of Three Square Market emphasizes that it is not designed to track people. Hmmm. I wonder...

    Thermal fuse help needed..

Look. The thermal fuse is installed to protect some device in an electronic circuit. Probably a blower motor for your heating system. You don't want to install a 145C thermal fuse to protect the fuse. You want the thermal fuse to protect whatever device it's installed in there to protect...

    Thermal fuse help needed..

It's a 140 degree C thermal fuse. All the other information is manufacturer info. But you don't need to replace it with an original mfgr device. Take it to an appliance repair supply store, electronics supply store, or possibly even an auto parts store and they should be able to fix you up. A...

    Hard Drive Help Needed!

Most of us are probably hesitant to offer advice which would help fully delete your 'life on the drives'. It doesn't sound like a job I'd attempt myself. I'd be looking for help from a computer business who has experience with catastrophic failures.

    Cassette Tapes that won't play

What Alec_t said. Also, if some of those tapes were stored or went through a magnetic field of any type, they'd be messed-up. And (maybe not lastly), what is the quality of the tapes themselves? Some tapes are 'high quality' (I'm talking about the components used to physically make the tape)...

Will you become a ghoul from climbing a radio tower?

Fortunately, the radiated power should have been enough to have sterilized them. So there won't be any progeny from them to compete for a Darwin Award.

    Digital piano won't power ON

Batteries can explode when exposed to excessive heat. Many batteries have the tabs spot-welded on, and the other end of the tab is soldered to the board. Are you trying to desolder the battery at the wrong location?

May i know what kind of components is it?

Everybody keeps asking you. If you look up the make and model of your multimeter, you may be able to find a schematic for it that will tell you the component's value.

Sony STR-DE305 Stereo Receiver/ Amp unit - no display nor output

My input is that I'd want to know the 'integrated house speaker' system layout. I would first suspect the amplifier life-span was limited by the load (the 'integrated house speaker' system). If I was doing this, I would be working under the assumption that I'd fix the amp, the owner would...

Vintage Hardware, should we begin replacing TANTALUMs

I find myself (again) in agreement with kellys_eye on this. There is no reason to replace tantalum caps with electrolytics for the reasons he gave. On my frequency sensitive instruments especially, the tantalums don't have the drift problems electrolytics have as they age.

Pioneer multi disk player model PD M601. Where is the volume control?

Yes. I have seen many devices that require the remote to perform specific functions. Can you find the remote?

HELP please OTL tube headphone amp (again)

This probably going to turn into a very long thread with people submitting helpful suggestions. My initial input is, congratulations on (almost0 completing this project on your own. People like you who chose to do their own work are rare these days. My secondary input, is that you probably...

Please I need help, does anyone knows what's this?

There are probably a lot of model railroader websites that can help with this. For anyone here to be able to try to help, we need any information you have on the make and model number of your locomotive as most of us are unfamiliar with this hobby, but are competent in electronic devices.

Get your tin foil hats out....

I'll ramble, .... I've been told that in the U.S., when somebody invents something, they try to get a patent on it. If it has potential for specific kinds of exploitation, the gov't classifies it. They don't classify it because it's of significance to the gov't. They classify it so they can...
