    Pug mill power switch wiring

I would also resplice that brown wire comming out of bottom of that left switch. It looks like it might be a poor connection. I never liked the idea of switching a neutral wire (for safety reasons) especially if it goes to an external switch. Its ok (EU) as long as hot and neutral are...

    Making parralel circuits with PINS

No problem soldering wires that small but you need to be cautious that it's properly sized for the current flowing through it. Solder joints can blow out at higher currents. A mechanical splice is preferred before soldering for that reason.

    Robotic Squirrel Trap

A I agree if their far away from your home, but sometimes people are just overran with rodents like squirrels and chipmunks. Call it silly, but "taking "out" some of them certainly reduces their population. Around me anyway it's illegal to relocate rodents. The damage they can do if they get...

    Wagner Electric motor type RA

I've heard of RI type motors, but I wonder what RA stands for? If Harl would post some pictures of the motor perhaps it would clarify. If it is a repulsion type motor, there should be a plate at the rear of the motor that can be taken off to access the brush gear.

    Wagner Electric motor type RA

The windings can also be figured out with an ohmmeter, but like I suggested, flipping the motor stator around works too.

    Wagner Electric motor type RA

Hi Harl. Are you sure it doesn't have a cap? Most motors for jointers are induction type that use a starting capacitor. If so, the leads of the starting winding can be swapped around to change direction. I don't recognize your color patern. They often use a yellow and orange for starting ckt...

Drone propellor not spinning. motor fine. no voltage

Looks like moisture got in along edges of board. I agree transistor is highly suspect, just don't know for sure if that's the one. I'd flip it over to inspect components on the other side and to better understand the motor ckt path.

Running house LED lights on AC

Good point. I used to seal them like that, but found they will eventually melt and deform with higher wattage incandescents installed. A person could come after you and install the original lamp not knowing it is now insulated in the attic. What I do now is just put metal tape over vent holes...

Running house LED lights on AC

I went around my house with my Ir camera and was horrified buy the leakage around the ceiling can lights. It looked similar to this google picture. Add up all these leaks and imagine the energy lost.

Sensor to activate a handicap door switch

If you just want it to open for the robot, bluejets transceiver idea would probably be the simplest, although I'm still imaging the transmitter mounted on the robot would be battery powered. If you wanted to add numerous wheelchairs later, of course you'd have to add transmitters that require...

So the intent is to have the door open just for the robot or do you want it for handicap personnel also?

Sensor to activate a handicap door switch

I guess I don't understand the application. If the beam robot is controlled by internet to greet handicap person, why not just just open door via internet?

Sensor to activate a handicap door switch

Wow, high tech. The tag would need to be on the wheelchair somewhere and the sensor could be on the robot. I don't know much about long range rfid but I'd imagine it could get pricey.

Sensor to activate a handicap door switch

That'd work too, but the downside of a Rf transmitter would be quickly exhausted batteries. (Always transmitting) What would work best comes down to budget and the number of wheelchairs that would use it. If only a few people need it the transceiver might be the way to go, but If there's 50 or...

Running house LED lights on AC

Yes, Most ceiling can lights are poorly insulated. They have holes for ventilating the heat generated by an incandescent lamp into attic space. Unfortunately, they also ventilate conditioned air in the room which wastes a lot of energy. Perhaps more than the led inefficiencies you speak of...

Sensor to activate a handicap door switch

The tag could be put at bottom of chair and the sensor installed in floor provided they pass through a narrow path. Or, opt for long range rfid sensors. Check this out: A economical way could be to use a "loop sensor" in floor like they do for vehicle detection. Problem with that is, the...
