Sensor to activate a handicap door switch

Sounds like a Rfid sensor may fit the bill.

    Robotic Squirrel Trap

Impressive, and fun to tinker with. Probably not feasible to try and market something like that. I got to admit it would be fun (in a sadistic way) to watch squirrels fall to their peril. As for the mechanism, it could be as simple as a timer circuit sending a pulse to fire a solenoid which...

    Robotic Squirrel Trap

Very cool. There is a photo switch in the middle that senses the squirrel. The trap door seems to open and close at the same speed. There are a number of ways that it could be triggered. I'd probably go for a low tech way of simply putting a motor that spins a cam with a connecting rod to pull...

    Hello, I'm new!

Welcome Luke. It's a great place to learn with a great group of folks who are happy to share their knowledge.

    What is this part?!

It's probably fine. They are supposed to look like that. That is shrink tube plastic you see over it and the exposed conductor is not a problem.

Replacing a momentarily rocker switch with relay switches

For now, just remove the 3 red wires on top and bottom of each contactor. These are the main contacts. Leave the normal closed contact wiring and the rest. It may be ok the way it is.

Replacing a momentarily rocker switch with relay switches

My name is John. You might have seen where dave clicked on the "like" button on one of my posts? Anyway, It looks like your in business with what you have! Instead of deciphering the existing wiring I suggest just removing the wiring and starting from scratch. Now. Looking at the sketch I...

Replacing a momentarily rocker switch with relay switches

I have no idea whats in that control box. Probably not feasible because it looks like a foreign voltage (230v ?) controls, while the hoist circuit suggests it's a North American voltage (120v). You can't guess at circuitry, know and understand what your hooking up. As I said, it's important to...

Replacing a momentarily rocker switch with relay switches

Here's a crude sketch. Contacts with a line through them are normally closed. Edit: I forgot to add stop button.

Replacing a momentarily rocker switch with relay switches

I agree it's not usually drawn like that, but it works like this; The motor uses u1 as run winding (up) and z2 as a start winding (cap in series), then when going down they swap polarity of the caps which causes a 90°phase shift to change motor direction. So when going up, power is directly on...

    Motor peculiarity

I agree you need to test the armature. One thing I've had success with is just hooking it up to a power supply and let it run on the bench for a long period of time. It alows the new brushes to wear in to make better contact with the comutator, and the heat generated can remove moisture...

Replacing a momentarily rocker switch with relay switches

First, i'd be very cautious about altering hoist controls especially if personnel are involved. It could present a hazardous situation. You didn't say what the voltage or current is but you should ideally use a reversing contactor. They are mechanically interlocked to prevent inadvertently...

Many get a chuckle because they consider them obsolete and useless. I got to say, I admire your enthusiasm. There aren't too many things than can entertain us for $1

So, what are you going to do with them? Sort of reminds me of when my wife comes home from shopping with something useless: Me: "do we need it?" Her: "No, but it was on sale!"

Perhaps the motor was overloaded when the slide got stuck. If your lucky theres a fuse that can be replaced.

    Kole Audio TRAX1-5500D Missing Component?

Great start knowing its a NPN, but not enough info to figure out what your missing part is. I hope one of our more seasoned members will chime in here. What does BR39 code mean? What I'd do next, is trace out where Q16 emitter goes and try to figure out what its function is. If you know that...

    Kole Audio TRAX1-5500D Missing Component?

You need to know specs of what your switching on (Q16) to be sure. What does it connect to? One thing you may consider is carefully un-soldering Q16 and hook it up to one of those (relatively inexpensive) lcd component testers. It can tell you wither its a bjt or mosfet, the Hfe, Vf, if its a...

    Kole Audio TRAX1-5500D Missing Component?

Yes, I think you're right, the pinout of lm393 says Vcc so that's positive to the Q1 pad. The other side with Q16 will be the load your mystery transistor switches but sorry I don't know what smd code BR39 means either. Perhaps a BT3904? I think you may be stuck until someone can say what Q16...
