OBDII interface question - newbie alert...

Just add a 7805 to your circuit for your 5V. Its old chip but very easy to work with and has always worked well in automotive applications for me.

    My electronics workshop

Its missing and could use a little clutter. It looks like no one works there.

    Power supply downgrade

the 780x are insanely easy to set up. You can get by with just Vin (9v) > cap - 7806 - cap - and get your Vout (6v). I'm not sure the value's you'd want for the caps prob anything would work fine. maybe go with .1uf or what ever you have available..

Soldering Iron power supplies ... repairs etc.

Xtronic USA makes good stations that are not so pricey. They are pretty much the same as many of the Chinese brands you see but the quality control and build process seems a lot better.

Soldering Iron power supplies ... repairs etc.

Not gonna lie, I have both cheap rework stations and ones that cost a pretty penny. Not all that much difference once you give them a nice tip and then continue to practice good tip care. I see no reason to get all fancy if your just starting out or a hobbyist. The $50 852 type stations are...

    Circuit Board coding

What does that have to do with anything about the question? Those green boards are hardly proprietary. The facts given where enough for the question asked which was basically more of a rant then anything else. Why does my prototype board with the a-z grid not match up on the reverse side? Don't...

    Circuit Board coding

I doubt much thought was put into it during production. Just copy pasting the silkscreen is the likely reason.

    Circuit Board coding

@SparkyCal You could always download kicad (free pcb design software) and work up a few perf board designs yourself. Will take less then an hour to figure out kicad. Then you can go to jlcpcb and have a batch printed out fairly cheaply. I do not really see it necessary tho if your working with...

They are for what ever you can use them to be, I never used them much myself.

    Technique Question

You can also use the leads you cut off THT components or a small solid wire to create traces instead. I find it easier then bridging. You can pre-bend them into the shape you need or bend as you go.

IR IMAGING DEVICE on the cheap

Its good for the price range op talked about and is in a nice small convenient unit. I see detail plenty good enough with it for repair work and considering how little I even use IR I don't think I could suggest something 10X over what the op was looking to spend.

IR IMAGING DEVICE on the cheap

you can find Flir C2's on ebay for around $200 sometimes (used) I got one awhile back but rarely ever use it as its not as useful as I thought it would be.

    Whirlpool Oven Control Board Fault

I do not really know much about ovens but should this thermo fuse be opening once preheating is not needed any longer? If so maybe its not doing it.

    CANBUS Question

No not always. Even tho the DLC's can+/can- will connect to the module it may be designed to go through other modules or through a gateway first, So directly splicing a module into the DLC will not always work. You will need to take a look at diagrams for what your working on to be sure.

Electronic schematic Chrysler 300 sat nav

what year is the 300? I probably have wiring diagrams and pinouts for it but I doubt you could find the schematics for the internals of the radio they do not release those.

    Re-programing eeproms

Well, if you only replaced the engine then you don't need to mess with the computer. If you replaced the computer then it really depends on the vehicle. I do this type of work quite often. Some are easier then others but it really depends on the year/model.
