repair Tribest Sedona SD-P9000 dehydrator -- low DC voltage from power board: maybe rectifiers or caps?

...and thanks for the update - nice to hear that things worked out for you. Lesson learned = use the right tool for the job!

Possibly - but probably no cheaper than getting a replacement phone.

    Replacement

The 4558 is a dual op-amp (similar to the 741 single op-amp) and not a particularly difficult one to source. 'Any' 8-pin DIP packaged version will suit (don't get the SOIC or other surface-mount versions - there are lots around!). The suffix letters usually refer to the package rather than the...

Trying to repair a circuit board for a rolling ball clock

I'm guessing that the circuit board is a simple monostable circuit - a system that, once triggered by the closing (or opening) contacts of the reed switch, makes the motor run for a predetermined period of time - probably just enough for it to perform one full rotation to send a ball rolling...

Trying to repair a circuit board for a rolling ball clock

Still inadequate pics. Where do the motor black/blue wires connect? Where do the wires from the reed switch connect? Can we see the FULL circuit board AND the wires leading to/from it? What about the other wires to/from the board? Where do they go (or come from)?

Trying to repair a circuit board for a rolling ball clock

Which implies the reed switch is potentially faulty - or maybe the magnet that operates it? What made you 'randomly' connect one side of the motor to some random area of the circuit board? You may have caused more damage by doing so. Was the motor 'disconnected' in some way? Either way...

Linear power supply for 100W LED...2 questions.

The simplest form would be a dropper resistor (you can't use a battery directly without one) but this is inefficient due to the heat loss in the dropper resistor - but if that's what you're prepared to accept then go for it! You can, of course, buy, build (or design) a constant current or...

    PERF BOARD!!

Got you beat by 2 years! I'm 63 now and been doing it since the same age as you but I've also discovered other methods that actually work better than plain stripboard - vis-a-vis the copper plane/solderpad stuff in the last pics I posted. Of course, each to their own (as I said) but you...

Show a pic of the switch and/or tell us the make/model. It's probably a simple wiring issue.

repair Tribest Sedona SD-P9000 dehydrator -- low DC voltage from power board: maybe rectifiers or caps?

It's a minor point - the range of 1N400x diodes actually has a price range that differs some 120% between cheapest (1N4003 for some reason) which is only 3p and most expensive (1N4007) which is 7p. OK, this difference is 'pennies' and for most people the quantities ordered wouldn't amount to...

2 SWITCHES TAPPED FROM 1 SOURCE

The relays (coils) will 'take' whatever they require to work which is usually around 150-200mA. Two would take double this of course and taking that voltage/current from the accessory socket is perfectly ok. You are correct to fuse the supply cable to the switches/relay coils and a 2A fuse...

repair Tribest Sedona SD-P9000 dehydrator -- low DC voltage from power board: maybe rectifiers or caps?

Any of the 1N400x range will suffice for this job but I tend to get 'quantities' of 1N4005/6 to cover 99% of all my needs. The 4007 is rated at 1000V and whilst it costs the same as the other ranges I only keep half a dozen in my stock.

repair Tribest Sedona SD-P9000 dehydrator -- low DC voltage from power board: maybe rectifiers or caps?

If component designation follows the usual standards then C2 will be the smoothing capacitor for the rectified 9VAC input and should have around 12-14VDC across it. The 9VAC input should be measured with your meter set to its AC position - measure straight across the AC input (the two blue...

Black and decker espresso machine having trouble to turn on

The big 'black box' on the PCB is a relay and it is that device making the clicking noise. It is likely that the relay controls power to them main unit and is being switched off/on as a result of the circuitry detecting a fault condition - probably off the board. This is typical action for a...
