    Hate to send work overseas, but if you are to be mass producing these for sale you may want to prototype one, verify that all is as you wish then contract with a factory in china. That is where the majority of boards and electronics goods are produced to my knowledge.

    I'll have to give that another go - as I recall, I had followed Colin's direction to troubleshoot the circuit and with the first transistor going to +3v as he mentioned. We noticed the LED was brighter and measured 2mA. This was with the LDR removed from the circuit.

    You seem to be reasonable stocked with components, maybe you have a LM317 handy? You can couple that to your existing 7805? and re regulate down to 3v. Beats batteries IMHO. Yes, that website had a lot of neat toys. Pricey, but I bet they are extremely well made and should last a lifetime...

    2.96v I am actually using a 220Ω resistor. I didnt want to disturb the other circuit and figured it was close enough. 128mV at resistor, 2.798v at LED, 637mV at CE junction. This doesn't add up to the terminal voltage of the battery - its higher at 3.563v so either the meter is not very good...
