    Scary...

Right with you there, Adam. I think I was about 9 or 10 years old when I received my first decent electric shock. Had brought home a radio from the local repair shop dump. This is valve era 1960 or so. Had the thing apart and plugged in while i checked it out. Was showing my dad something -...

    Scary...

I drop into this forum occasionally and have a browse. I've even posted a couple of times. I have a lot of respect for the brave souls who respond to some of these posts - some of which are just downright scary! I guess it boils down to basic electronics knowledge - or the lack of it. I mean...

How to foster learning and inquiry in our kids.....

Which is tragic. And yes, I agree, understandable given the environment in the US which requires schools to be overly wary. But tragic nonetheless.

Need help powering a 12V vehicle video monitor from 5V

ummm... maybe I'm missing something - sorry if that's the case, but the monitor spec says it runs with a 5v-24v supply. Have you tried the monitor directly to the usb supply?

    Transformers Voice Changer Switch Help

An alternative approach, especially if you can't figure out how to disable the timer on the board: It seems that the circuit is "edge triggered" - it has to go through the cycle of the button being released and then pressed again to enable the circuit. You could possibly make a small circuit...

    Ten way relay switch required.

Should be able to do it with a 10 bit latch and 12 monostables. 10 monos are connected to the footswitches and generate a 100ms (say) pulse (also acts as debounce). Mono 11 is triggered by any of the monos (1 thru 10) being triggered (or gate) - to produce a delay of say 10ms at the end of...

    Ten way relay switch required.

oops... no, I'm wrong. The 4017 will switch in sequence. But I think you need "one and only one" output out of 10 with 10 inputs...

    Ten way relay switch required.

Look up the 4017 ic. has 10 outputs and a trigger input. Then use this to drive transistor switches. Use a debounce ic (MAX16054 or similar) on your footswitch.

    Homemade Capacitor

Thinking in 3 dimensions, if you have alternate layers of foil and food wrap connecting every odd numbered "plate" as one side of the capacitor and the evens as the other side, what does a 2m cube give you? Apart from a hernia trying to lift it... Alternatively, a 200m roll of food wrap...

    Measuring distance of many targets

It's feasible. Maybe something like this: http://www.radiometrix.com/content/uhx1 to provide communication. You'll need to find out what's legal in Brazil in terms of frequency and power. Equip each vehicle with a transceiver. Equip the tower with a transceiver. Now you need to build a small...

    Connecting 2 walwarts

Use a double adapter on the end of a mains extension cord? I wouldn't recommend hacking into the wallwarts. This doesn't actually achieve much. What are you really trying to do?

    How to read Robot Schematic

You're talking about the components to the left of SW2? The two transistors T1 and T2 plus the associated capacitors and resistors form what is known as an "Astable Multivibrator". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multivibrator for a detailed explanation. Briefly, this is a type of...

Newbie question - building a locking circuit

It's extremely complicated. You need to do a LOT of research. This is related to materials signature analysis. The following link describes using signature analysis for known componentry in circuit boards. You are trying to do something similar with a lump of rock. The REALLY hard part is...
