    I don't quite understand either but if you just want a pivoting low voltage electrical connection between the door and frame, put positive on one door hinge, negative on a 2nd door hinge, these insulated from the door and/or frame itself if they're metal, and clean all grease off the hinge pins...

    Practically speaking, I select the highest gauge (regular) insulated wire I have in stock... buying spools of wire gauge higher than needed for that, doesn't seem as cost effective to me as buying more of a gauge that can handle *most* low current projects, not having to (invest in) stock wire...

Since you want USB connectivity it should have 5.0V input to power that, or within a few tenths of a volt. You could get lazy and wire a silicone diode in series...

    You don't mention the dimensions of the skirting. 1/8 headphone jacks are weak and failure prone. Good quality 1/4" are a lot better but still relatively weak for a permanent install like that and capable of less current. I'd sooner install a recessed binding post panel like the following...
