    Commect a 120VAC light bulb in series with the 120VAC motor. The lower the bulb wattage, the lower the motor speed. Want more speed, choose a larger wattage bulb. Relays or switches bringing the bulb(s) into/out the circuit can do a pretty and simple speed controlling.

    Yes, I believe you can do that. Something >470 ohm should put the sensor in range. Hope the voltage it emits and the pulses per revolution count is the same as the ECU expects. 2 to 3K Ω seems too high for a speed sensor, but hey, go for it. Come back with findings...

    Do not do any installation of resistors. The observed readings are within reason. Just select another jumper or solder bridge to a nearby value, up or down. Exact voltages are not necessary. The selections change slightly the optimal contrast angle for a given view position.
