    Simple power supply?

Mike, You are my kind of guy... Furthermore, learning is so easy now days with the web, keeps the rust away. For every open mind in the universe, I warmly recommend these great sites (free!) : www.coursera.org www.edx.org

That is good news. I don't know the proper way to duplicate a Tech2 PCMCIA card . Mmaybe in your friends tech2 and not with a PC is the way to go.

Sorry to say but, you don't understand the meaning of dropout voltage! Read about it till you get it...

    fan repair and diagnosis

From your description , In my experience the problem is the motors axle gets stuck from dirt, dust, rust and/or dried out lubricant near the bearings. You can verify that by trying to rotate it by hand-it should spin freely and effortless. Try this without opening the motor("fast an easy fix")...

    QSC 850 help

Hope you did the transistor test in "diode" mode test. How did you check the caps? The big caps should be discharged before you do ohm/diode test use a 1k resistor to discharge them(check for no voltage on them with DVM). Test speaker out to GND ,ohm test (not diode test!) Check Q203-Q210 on...

    QSC 850 help

Woody, "Right channel is shorting out" What do you mean it is not clear : how do you know it is the right ch.? with speakers/without speakers? with input signal/without signal? low volume/high volume? photos would help a lot...

RF noise from a chip dc-dc step up module, fix?

Well, It is very important that you use the NPO/COG ceramic SMD RF quality caps. from a very good manufacture like AVX or MURATA. the value should be around 1nF (a bit larger up to 4.7nF is o.k) If you don't it will not change a thing...

RF noise from a chip dc-dc step up module, fix?

One more thing you can do is use Ferrite-core filters. Use them(if the caps alone didn't solve your problem) on both input and output wires(2 separate filters ). Loop each wire-pair 2 times through a filter, and secure as close as possible to the board. like these ones: EMI RFI ferrite core filters

RF noise from a chip dc-dc step up module, fix?

The 6009 smps reg. works at a switching freq of about 400khz. It will create lots of spurious frequencies along the full spectrum. The lack of appropriate RF filtering is clear. The simplest remedy : Try soldering two 1nF/50V COG/NPO(good RF type caps from AVX or other "legit" cap manufacture)...

    Simple power supply?

Mike, We need to keep in mind that the LM350 is a Voltage Regulator. Hence it is specified like a VR : Load and Line regulations being the most important characteristics and ref. voltage accuracy and adj. current change the 2nd in importance. Look at the datasheet from Ti, they spec only for...

    Simple power supply?

Mike, I wish you both the best of health. What you have is a center tape transformer! "The package said black and either yellow for 6v. Yellow and yellow for 12v " The center tape is the the black. Very simple to verify that with an ohm test(and voltage test): the resistance of yellow to...

    Simple power supply?

Mike a few questions: 1.Are you going to build only a single board ? 2.Have you tested the circuit to work and satisfy your needs? 3.Are the LM350s mounted on the board? How will they be connected to the heat sink? 4.Didn't you say your transformer is a center-tap one? If so, you can do a 2...
