    Amazon Kindle 3G

A pop-up screen is even better! No space needed and works well :). It's a shame they don't tell them over here. Thanks for the heads up on Calibre, it looks excellent and just what I was after - a sort of iTunes for ebooks ;). I've been downloading them manually from gutenberg so far, but this...

    Amazon Kindle 3G

I've never heard of the Nook before (UK, so no B&N here), but I've just had a google for it and I really like the look of it - but I think I'd miss the keyboard. Hopefully they'll be able to get color, capacative touch screen "e-paper LCD" readers out soon :) I've put a few PDF's on the Kindle...

    Amazon Kindle 3G

I'm a bit of a gadget fiend, but I've always overlooked the Amazon Kindle ebook reader. However, my other half was looking to buy some old classic books - which happen to be free in electronic format. Anyway, to cut a long story short she bought the Kindle 3G ebook reader (£149/$189) and it...

    cpu, and Hard Drives

Getting the CPU and RAM loads isn't something you can to by creating a simple circuit (as far as I'm aware), so you'd need to interface with the PC using a USB/Serial port and use some software to control the LED array using this. You can buy pre-made units that do this, but it's quite expensive.

    Photos, other than electronics

Those are some cracking pics! What camera did you use for those? You've done a smart job on the wine rack - and it's one of those projects that you'll be able to benefit from for many years to come! I hear that a glass of red wine per day is good for you ;)

Can you try turning the TV off at the socket for a for a few mins and then power the TV back up? That might do the trick. :)

Using a computer monitor as a tv?

Hi Ricky, I'd recommend buying a TV over a monitor if you are intending to use it as a TV, as there are features there you'd miss out on which would cause problems - such as speakers, remote control and the need for a freeview box that meets the monitor input requirements. It is technically...

Hi mwasif_ciit, it's not possible to change the username on the site - however if there's a good reason for changing it (misspelling on signup for example) then I can do it manually :).

    hobbies other than electronics

I've just taken a look at your website - some great pics on there, especially the lava ones! I'm just reading up on the meteorites now, some of those are quite a size  I studied Aerospace engineering at university and then did a masters degree on a project relating to avionics /...

    hobbies other than electronics

I'm also interested in geology, although my rock/mineral collection is rather puny at the moment! Once we move house I'm really keen to get some nice items, especially a nice bit of labradorite :D. My main hobby is aircraft, as that's where my education/training is - but I don't get as much...

    Amateur Rockets

Yeah most of the cool photography seems to be done with baloons, although that doesn't seem as fun as using rocket motors :D A small sounding rocket would involve some fun design and making a decent avionics payload would keep me busy for a while ;). If/when I do get a chance to go for...
