    Problems Programming PICKIT 2 Clone

    I've been looking at why my VPP might be low. The diagram below shows the circuit I've used. ICSP-1 Pin, is the VPP/MCLR Pin. I remember that I didn't have a 75 Ohm resistor when soldering R4, therefore I used 100 Ohm. Now I think this may be the issue.

    I'm getting 11.9V on MCLR/VPP, when I hit read. Is this how you wanted me to test VPP?

    The code protect is enabled.. Before I load my hex file I disable the code protect feature, but when i load my hex file the code protect is stuck enabled. I've tried changing the code protect config bits in MPLAB, before exporting my hex file.. still its stuck on code protect.

    Hi Guys, I've made a pickit 2 clone but i cant seem to program a PIC16F73 with it. I've checked my circuit and measured different point with the volt meter and everything is reading as expected. I figured that the MPAB is incompatible with the PIC16F73 so I'm using the standalone PICKIT 2...

    I would check the capacitors to see if they are bulging or leaking. This indicates the capacitor is bad. Look at the capacitors from the side so they look square, if you can see the metallic bit bulging its a bad capacitor. Capacitors can leak from the bottom or the top, (Usually the bottom) so...

    Does anyone know where to buy the Weller St series tips? I only saw one on farnell, buts it not worth the money.. its from USA so I'd have to pay extra for shipping. There's a few on ebay, but I'm not sure if they are originals or not. Some ebay listings dont show a proper picture of the items...

    Standard equipment for beginners

    A small pot of soldering iron tip cleaner/tinner. Wish I started out with this. Greatly increases the life of your soldering iron. Therefore making soldering much easier. I also wish i started out with Vero Boards, really easy to work with when prototyping.

    I've brought some good quality tinner aswell, which I will keep on top of the unit. I've brought it now an will see if they are compatible. I already have a hot air station which works great for smd components. . Not to mention the heat shrink =)

    This was hopefully the idea! I've checked the St series tip dimensions against the ones provided with the clone. They seem really close +/- 1mm from what I can see. Weller tips are definitely the way to go, I'm going to be using this a lot.

    Frequently used lights :) Yeah, a higher rated adapter would run comfortably without being stressed.
