    The solder joints look like balls on top of the pads rather than smooth solder joints. They look like the pads were insufficiently heated and the solder did not flow over them. It only takes one bad joint to stop the circuit working, I suspect you have some.

    Aaaah, that's a better image. It appears that your solder joints are very poor. You need to Google for how to solder and go over each joint and fix them.

    Another approach, is you have a knows good ammeter is to place both in series while you do the resistor and power supply trick. If they read close to the same then they as as accurate as each other.

    You need to take photos we can use. Have a look here for information on taking good photographs. You're probably also going to have to note the part numbers of components (like transistors) where we won't be able to see them on your photo.

    It could possibly help. I can't remember if it's soldered in. If it's in a socket and you have another processor, sure you can give it a go. The processor isn't programmed the way microcontrollers are. The program will be in eproms somewhere else on the board.
