    How does the Roomba perform?

I saw that Steve has a Roomba (in this thread), so I watched the link to the video and it looks fantastic . Would you recommend one? It looks ideal... a gadget and something that saves me from hoovering, that's a win-win in my books ;)

    dac

Wikipedia gives a good overview of Digital to Analog converters, so you can use that to get an idea of the topics you should cover. However if you understand how DACs work you should be able to summarise it, as searching websites won't help other than to give some ideas on what to include...

    DVD pcb

A PCB is a printed circuit board (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Printed_circuit_board), so it sounds like this is just part of the makeup of a DVD drive - if I understand the context correctly.

know of any good UK internet retailers of electronic components?

Another one to consider is Rapid (http://www.rapidonline.com/) If you are mainly after common components, you may find someone like http://www.bowood-electronics.co.uk/ cheaper :). Welcome to the forums :)

    CAPTCHA Broken with Proof

I've had a look at the recaptcha implementation (the CAPTCHA service provided by Google) and I can't seem to replicate this problem, so I think it may have been a temporary problem at their server end. There have been quite a few new users registering in the past few days, so I think it may...

    CAPTCHA Broken with Proof

Hi burners - thanks for letting me know about this. I'll have a look in to this when I'm back home (3rd Jan) and investigate in more detail. I've only got a few mins access to the computer, but wanted to let you know I'll check it out. We're using "Recaptcha" from Google and it worked for me...

    Additional Search Options

I've added a couple more quick search options to the Search dropdown box on the top menu which should allow you to find your own threads and posts very quickly :). It's only a small addition, but I thought it was worth mentioning here in case it wasn't noticed - as it could be handy :)

    Modifying Electronic Timer Switch

Sorry about that Ken, I didn't see your reply at the time I deleted the spam post. As Resqueline said, it was a spammer that "scraped" random text from a releated search and posted it in to this thread (with spam links at the bottom of the post). Ryan, I had the exact same timer switch at my...

    Generic Intorduction

Welcome to the forums Aero :) I think many of us will have started the very same way, it's a good fun way of getting involved in electronics. When I was young, I used to ask neighbours for broken electronic items - either to be fixed, broken up for components or just to learn more about things.
