    Soldering Iron Question

You have to think about how often you use your iron, what you use it for, and how long you want it to last. Weller makes a good line of irons, replacement heating elements, and a wide variety of replacement solder tips. I use Weller a lot because I can change the heating elements and tips to...

    Sweet sweet vacuum tubes...

Warning: Americans call them 'vacuum tubes'. Brits and Aussies call 'em 'valves'. Just in case you were confused about that last post.

    voltage standard

I work in a standards lab. Believe me, even the best of meters aren't protected from some of the damage I see, done by 'experts'.

    sony xplod amplifier repair problems

Well, the D1 thru D4 are probably diodes, high resistance one direction, low resistance in the other. jackorocko is right, we can't see much from your picture. One way or the other, you'll have to identify the shorted devices, needing to be replaced.

    voltage standard

They're not cheap, but there are a lot of electronics standards labs available that calibrate test and measurement instruments to factory specs.

Keyboard Issue With Some Old Laptop Computers

Did you ever try running the canned spray 'duster' (compressed CO2) between the keys? I agree it's usually a matter of having to replace keyboards when they start acting up. But I always try to spray between the keys to kick-out all the dust and dirt particals that accumulate in there...

Read value of SMD diode (mini-melf)

If it's a zener, read the voltage across the good one. Zeners act like a simple voltage regulator in their effect.

Hmmmm, This is the second post I've read where someone here wants Electronicspoint to conform to whatever site they're otherwise used to being on, somewhere else. I find it interesting that instead of staying on those other websites, people wind-up coming here. I guess it's hard to be...

Stereo receiver speaker takes a long time to come on and electronics safety

I don't have THE answer, but I've got an opinion. The delay is there to protect the receiver. I wish I knew what increased your delay. Possible damage from what you've done, but did you do anything else? Are they the same speakers? Check to make sure the speaker wires themselves were not...

    Electromagentic Waves help

Somebody will probably answer your post with what you need. Maybe they'll even have a formula for you to use, so check your post again later. I'm a technician, not an engineer. As a technician, knowing you want to calculate values, I'd want to know everything you have about what you're...

    crimp on terminal help

Look like standard automobile connectors to me. They make insertion and extraction tools for the pins/sockets, but they're pricey. Where there's a will, there's a way, if you carefully slide a very narrow barrel tube of the right size over the (front) of the socket pins, to release the small...

Can you help me find these parts?

I'm with markm6164. Your connectors are fine. I'd stop looking for the connectors, and start looking for the type of cable you're using. Just reuse the connectors. You'll find strain reliefs and whatever else you need from the cable manufacturers. It's pretty unusual for Cannon not to...

replacement for ceramic barrel type fuse

Not familiar with your meter. The biggest reason I've found for a specific type of fuse in test gear, is when the meter is designed for specific industrial applications. Like working in an explosive environment (mining or other places where there's the possibility of explosive gases). If...

I don't know what that entails, but it sounds like I'm going to be locked out of it. Thanks for the effort. Looks like the Red Chinese are getting proprietary with their info.

    Car Cubby Hole: Motorised Lid

What's the possibility of finding mating plug/socket connector, and replacing the existing connector that you don't have the mate for? I still think you should google this model, and see what other people have come-up with, maybe you'll find a reference to a manufacturer/part number somebody...

    Car Cubby Hole: Motorised Lid

    Car Cubby Hole: Motorised Lid

What'll they think of next? I've got two questions: 1) Are you sure you have room in your car for that retractable lid to clear everything when it opens? 2) Did you get a power connector with the new gadget (somewhere in the box it came in)? My thought is that you have the power connections...

    Foxconn JA23332-810

I was able to get the English translation on that site, I just can't get the darned data sheet itself (Which I would prefer in English also). I know they make the device, obviously quite a few of them made it to our shores also, now I'm just trying to find-out what's inside of it.

Didn't get the data sheet yet. If I used this site correctly, I sent you a 'private message', top right side of top of this page to access it. Thanks.
