How to dimm up display on microwave Frigidaire ?

Most instruments I've worked-on had a low or high intensity capability. It would make sense on a fridge, to dim at night or be more bright in daylight. I was just flipping through a trade magazine, and somebody is selling NEC VFD's, So somebody out there must still be making them. I was...

Oversized VU meter simulation for exhibition stand

Unless somebody gets really creative, it'll run you some money to make a meter that big. What about using a camera tied to a big screen TV display. Then you can use a small VU meter, and use the camera to show a big picture of it on the TV?

How to dimm up display on microwave Frigidaire ?

How OLD is this vacuum flourescent display? I don't know anybody that makes them anymore. Since you know what a VFD is, do you have the part number for it? Maybe you can find a data sheet from whoever made it. I've never seen one dim through age. Maybe if you or we find the data sheet on...

    Annual Burroughs cross ref request

    Anybody know what any of these old Burroughs semiconductors cross to in the real world? 1083-4760 1471-4828 1479-0273 1536-1132 1657-8211 1849-5895 1904-8245 2472-8651 2473-3958 2474-6661 2571-1912 2571-3041 2571-3116 2571-5418 2574-6975...

Seek info: mid-20th century Power Factor Capcitors, Sangamo-Weston, Pickens, SC

I don't know if you're going after capacitor manufacturers specifically, or what you're looking for. The caps were the oil-filled cans used in just about every pre-transistor power supply I worked on (by a lot of manufacturers). If you want to know where all the PCB's are now, start looking into...

    Tektronix 2430A and traces shifting

I'd be looking in the CRT section. Leaky cap or transistor. Horizontal or Vertical deflection.

Learned (or re-learned, I don't remember), something new today.

    Common Base output characteristic

Transistor theory was a life-time ago. What I remember is, common-base connection is a configuration of two transistors with the bases connected. It's not a specification of any one transistor. Are you sure you have your terminology/question right?

Now that the TV is on the fritz, take up electronic repair as a hobby, and YOU can fix it next time.

    magnetism.

I'm wondering where exactly on the heating system, you've grounded your bench. Is it an electrical ground? When my ex-wife moved-out, I moved my bullet reloading bench into my bedroom. It's turned-out to be a lot more fun. Tell your wife to watch it, or your new bench may stay and she might go.

    Repairing clock radio

I suppose it's a long-shot, and I haven't heard the clicking noise. I was just wondering if it might be static from dirty contacts on old switches. You'd use spray-can electronics parts cleaner for that. May not be the problem, but thought I'd mention it. Worn/dirty volume control on radio...

    Altenatives to soldering

If the part is common, I get them from local TV repair shop supply stores, or computer repair supply stores. There are five of them in my city. If I can't get parts locally, I order them from catalogs. *steve*'s right though. Only the old guys in the stores actually have any concept of...

    Repairing clock radio

The random clicking noise sticks in my mind. Any possibility of dirty switch contacts or volume controls? The caps sound like likely suspects but the random clicking seems unusual. Dirt or moisture a possibility? I had an annoying clicking in the audio of my TV years ago. It was sitting...

Suitable Substitute for Freon TF Solvent

There isn't anything as good as Freon TF. At my work, the replacement 'green' stuff they issue us is: Tech Spray Asahiklin AK225 It's not as good as Freon TF, but it's better than most of the other 'green' stuff I've tried.

    unijunction needed

I don't know if they've got your part. But when I'm stuck, I check with Sphere in British Columbia. If they don't have it and I need it, often they look for it for me.

How do i make a 60sec security system timer?

Time-delay relay. They come in delay-on and delay-off configurations. You'd need to look for one that operates on your available voltage (which sounds like your battery). Solid-state might run you $20 U.S. though. Just another idea. jackorocko's idea is cheaper.

    Repairing clock radio

The clear plastic cube with the pink dot on top looks like it might be a relay. The relay would be more apt to make a clicking noise. Trace the wiring on the bottom of the board from the power to the relay, it should lead you to the (possibly) bad cap. good luck

    Audio switch project.

Sorry, I'm not up on these new-fangled communications power requirements. Typically, the vehicle chassis is the car battery ground. For the new high-tech comm gear, there may be special power filtering (you know, to keep alternator noise and etc... off the power line.) If your question is...

    Audio switch project.

You may have to check a few, but auto parts stores should carry what you need. (Or a place that caters to truckers) People are big into doing what you're doing, and the demand at auto/truck places is high. (RV repair/modification vendors also) I got my last batch (years ago) of rocker...
