    Quick question about AC/DC adapters

I need to point out that the internal resistance of a fresh AA battery will be less than 300 mOhm. The voltage drop will be quite small maybe only 100 mV not enough to limit the current to a safe level. So you can not rely on the internal resistance of a fresh battery to limit the current...

need help going green and willing to pay for help! solar / relay / timer control

Ok I found the micro inverters on YouTube and there is no separate output. Two ideas I have Henry. With additional relay switching components / processing components / Timer components. These options are. 1)...

need help going green and willing to pay for help! solar / relay / timer control

Do we know the model number of the inverter? I'll have a look if they can be worked another way. Adam

need help going green and willing to pay for help! solar / relay / timer control

To prevent a shock to utility workers who might be digging up your road and have cut the power to your house. The inverter needs to shut down. But I am not sure if the mains coming in links to the output internally or if there is a seperate PV mains output and domestic mains output. Adam

need help going green and willing to pay for help! solar / relay / timer control

Yes is this just the input? What about just feeding mains in but dont connect the output. Or is there only one output which is either PV or mains? Adam

need help going green and willing to pay for help! solar / relay / timer control

Wow a lot has happened in a weekend. I might have missed something but why cant you disconnect the mains and just run the AC of the solar units. I know it needs mains all the time but what load does it need to stay on. Adam

need help going green and willing to pay for help! solar / relay / timer control

This must be getting irritating now for Henry. My first post mentioned current transformers which are these clamp on things others mentioned after this. Its time I think one of us drew out some wiring diagram for Henry to check that it is his current connections. I will do this next week as I am...

    Optocoupler stays on

You say it's fine but earlier on you say it stays on? You can't simulate a different circuit it won't give you the same results. You need the resistor to protect the Triac from high dI/dt when the Triac switches back on and also to decrease the dV/dt turn off time (commutation) to prevent false...

need help going green and willing to pay for help! solar / relay / timer control

Hi Henry Could you use two current transformers to measure the difference between the two feeds or arrange the wiring so you did have two feeds. Then switch them out when the imbalance is a certain amount? It would be nice to see a wiring diagram of what you have. Adam

    Optocoupler stays on

I don't think Fish was saying you can't drive inductive loads, he wouldn't have meant that. The problem with large AC inductive loads is the phase difference between current and voltage. They don't cross zero at the same time, this can gives issues with the Triac turning off. To counter act this...

    Optocoupler stays on

You really should draw your circuit with the correct components. You had be staring at that for a while thinking well what's wrong with that? Then I looked again and noticed you had put the part number for the device. It turns out to be a Triac driver output. This is your problem, the driver...

I would like to build tach for a small diesel. magnet, sensor, counter, LED

That's a good one debe, with the addition of an LM3914 and a few other components it would be able to drive a bar graph display. Adam

    Simple NPN transistor circuit help

Maybe they are white LED's you wouldn't see the light arrows from them on white paper :)

    Flasher Help?

Yep and I think the guy who drew the original circuit got the connections wrong.

    Flasher Help?

Yes indeed, how could the pilot light work without a connection to 0V. Unless it is using the body which might be metal. Adam

Hi Wingnut You don't have a brother called washer by any chance do you :) Can we see a circuit diagram? What pulse timings are you using? Thanks Adam

The BJT as an Amplifier homework question

Hi Roy Is this signal a sine wave? re do they mean RE (Emitter Resistor), re is the intrinsic emitter resistor and is 25 mV/ IC. Do you have a circuit diagram. Thanks Adam
