    Anyone know what this is?

Your Fluke may have a diode test range as you state. It will show the forward volt drop across a diode - which can be anything from 0.2V to 0.8V in the forward direction, zero in the reverse for 'standard' diodes.. If your meter is being used correctly it is showing a forward volt drop of 1.8V...

    Anyone know what this is?

A diode seems the most reasonable conclusion but a simple test will reveal the truth.

Need to hire someone to make drawing or company to manufacture 200 small pcbs.

Probably - in picture three the little round black circle at the bottom edge of the board is a built-in microphone. This would have to be removed and your sound source attached in its place - potentially through a 'volume' control depending on the signal level your source outputs. <edit> just...

Yes you can but you may have to adjust the level to get the switching point you require. Whether this adjustment is built into the board or may have to be fitted externally depends on the board you purchase. Most WILL have such adjustment on them.

Need to hire someone to make drawing or company to manufacture 200 small pcbs.

You can get DIY kits of parts: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/mindsets-sound-activated-switch-solder-kit-n08jg or ready-made kits: https://www.quasarelectronics.co.uk/Item/3126-sound-activated-relay-switch that have what are called 'no-volts' contacts on them. This is a simple set of contacts...

Sound operated (activated) switch. Known as 'clappers' in some places but very common in most parts of the world.

Help designing a 5V UPS circuit.

Your battery choice is a flexible decision. Size, availability, amphere-hours (capacity), chemistry etc. If the UPS function isn't expected to be operated very often - mains supplies generally being reliable these days - then even alkaline (non-rechargable) batteries could be used.

There are Youtube videos of the process - seems straight forward enough.

"Super Moon In My Room" tweak- time delay shutoff circuits?

First, identify the device that's doing the timing. This means opening it up and either posting a picture of the insides or knowing which component it is and telling us the device (manufacturers) type number printed on it.

Help designing a 5V UPS circuit.

Feed the charging circuitry direct from the 12V supply line. OR the output of the 12V line with the output of the 9V Nimh using diodes. When the 12V supply is on, the diode at the output of the Nimh source is reverse biased and doesn't allow current to flow into the 7805. When the 12V supply...

Immersion water heater in a metal cup

Liability ends with the supplier - you. If you're covered for any legal claims made against you then go ahead. I realise that some countries are less inclined to take such things seriously and maybe the systems there care to turn a blind eye - 'caveat emptor' and all that - but personally I...

    Fully Functional Jumanji Game

Depends on the number of objects to be detected and the accuracy of detection. Do the dice need to be 'mechanical'? If physical dice are used and positional accuracy is required then it may be that video recognition is the answer. Complicated, but the easiest to implement...

Pool shooting robot needs help with rail-gun pool-cue thruster

Your emphasis on the 'power stroke' is causing you problems that you don't need to (immediately) address. When watching professional pool players take a shot the vast majority are done for 'placement' (to take the next shot) rather than 'effect' and such power shots are infrequently used...

Immersion water heater in a metal cup

The electrical safety of the HEATER is more important - it should be (ideally) double-insulated as well as electrically earthed. Low voltage would also help (but is often impractical).

Circuits to build for a beginner!

Start with a decent book. Whilst most online tutorials are very good there is no escaping a paper-based source of education for repeated referencing to. Horowitz's book 'The Art of Electronics' has a 'students manual' accompaniment that gives practical examples of component understanding along...

New guy needs help with Matco Maxme parts sourcing

I'd start by thoroughly cleaning the board - water first, then (after drying) alcohol thereafter. Use a scrubbing action (toothbrush - preferably someone else's......) and get as much crud off the board as you can. Check for track damage and corrosion at 'through-holes'. There certainly looks...

Hantek scope keeps ticking and wont turn on.

@ *steve* Does this site have a reference page we can link to that warns of the dangers involved when working with high voltages/currents? A pointer to such would not only provide useful (and potentially life-saving) advice but also offer some form of indemnity, morally if not legally.
