    "how to select the components with proper intuition" Generally transistors have proper intuition, but resistors have no intuition at all. So, don't use any resistors.

    You need to know the current capability of the motor you are using as the source. The first thing to do is connect the motor to the battery via a diode and 0.47 ohm 10 watt wire wound resistor and measure the voltage across the resistor.

    No-one has explained this to you: If you only use the voltage that is well below the ripple, you will not get any hum. Just supply 24v and only use 18v. Use 2,200u for each amp. The choke is not needed.
