    Noob Intro

LT-Spice is free and very popular here on EP. Here's the link but it doesn't appear to be MAC compatible. http://www.linear.com/designtools/software/ Oh! Welcome to EP! Chris

In order for you to receive relevant answers it's always best to divulge 'completely' what you're desirous of doing. Chris

    Vintage doorbell issues

I can imagine resistors disintegrating over time but only if they were always running very hot. Most doorbells in the U.S. used 24VAC. For the most part it was considered a standard. Personally those resistors look like a field hack. I see no reason for them unless sometime in its history...

    Russian electronics help needed.

Lightning maybe but I would suspect a strike would take out chips, caps and just about anything that got in its way. Soooo I have no idea. Chris

    Vintage doorbell issues

Saw that but thought it was an end cap of another blown resistor. Remnants of a fuse is a good guess though! Chris

    Vintage doorbell issues

The fact that the resistors, which are presumably wired in series with the coil, are burnt to the point of disintegration would seem to point to that. It's also possible that the contacts welded themselves closed. Electromechanical doorbells are made for intermittent duty, as the contacts are...

Are these resistors located somewhere in the Mains side of the board? I'm still trying to wrap my head around 10K burnt out resistors in the LV logic section of the board. Chris

    Easy Machine To Wind Transformer

Ah, one of those hand crank jobies. I have a bunch of them dating back to the 18th century. Some Braces too! Even an old Pump Drill passed down from Dad. Chris

If it is 100KΩ then to exceed .25W the voltage across it would have to exceed 158V. I'm not an SMD expert though. I didn't google SMD resistor standard wattage's. Chris

    help connecting 555 timer

My observations: EP's brain power is in very good health and still growing. Quite impressive considering all replies thus far have been made without the benefit of OP supplying a single sketch, schematic or photo. We need a "Thumbs Up" smiley! ;) Chris

    Easy Machine To Wind Transformer

Good advice from Alec because many modern hand drills employ both variable speed and slip clutch too! Having reverse can be handy too. Chris

10K resistors would seem an unlikely candidate for burnout unless there's high voltage associated with them. Chris

Unfortunately the photo isn't sharp enough. I pasted it into paint and blew it up but it didn't help. My guess would be a resistor or diode but you need more than a guess. Chris

nRF24L01+ PA LNA - Seems that the PA (power amplification) portion of the module is failing?

Are all Grounds created equal? Definitely not in the realm of RF. Especially in the microwave region. I'm with Dave. The more the better. The broader and more direct is better yet. Chris

Ha, I didn't catch that. It doesn't make any sense. Does it? Chris

I need a relay or something

Here's another version that includes a Gate Zener. It can be a Zener voltage of 9V - 12V. It will absorb both positive and negative spikes. Chris

While I really don't understand why you're getting a 6V voltage drop at the hatch light I believe you're asking for this... Chris

    Half bridge inverter

It took me a while to find this but I needed to see application notes that employed a HV bipolar supply (+300V -300V) as you have. I don't know if it will help but I found this, which I'm still reading.. http://www.infineon.com/dgdl/an-978.pdf?fileId=5546d462533600a40153559f7cf21200 There's a...

    Half bridge inverter

I suspect it's just a language gap but that driver looks like it's intended to be a 3PH driver. Are you saying the protection diodes are configured like that but that's not exactly your circuit? If so it would help to provide us with schematics that represent your circuits 'EXACTLY',.... not...
