    fried board Identification

I got this out of an old PSU, and it appears to have a very large capacitor that has vaporized. I wondered if I am right or wrong in identifying it a a 220v adapter? can this board be reworked into a 220vac double for a sub woofer?

    redundant circuitry

I know this might sound a bit strange and off topic maybe.... I was looking at my motorcycle TCI and it utilizes redundant conditions to guarentee the spark fires at the right point in the timing. It might be pseudo op like this- If the pressure in the vacuum is low If the signal from the crank...

arduino uno R3 schematic and datasheets

I am a basic electronics novice, and I don't know how to tell you how strange it is to see so many "clone versions" of the popular system that you might not be getting a device that is good... It bothers me... I bought an Inexpensive clone, and I wondered if there is a way to test it and see...

bleeders and what I am doing....

I found this great resource on setting resistance and adjusting load, but I closed my laptop and lost the resource. Setting the resistance I understand fully. 10% RULE- 1. SET RESISTANCE where the amperage is 10% of the LOAD [current bleed] where I is amps IBleed = I =(0.10)(9.1a)=.91ma...

    Capacitor type comparison

I have some bulged caps from a motherboard out of a HP pavilion, They are polarized 10x25 3300uf 6.3v 105 degree caps. nichicon HO149 HM(M). I have found type HW(M) and a slew of others, but on HM(M)and I can't find a datasheet on any of them. whats the difference between a MBZ T0610 and a...

    Simple Resistance Division

As my diagram shows, the use of a parallel resistor is used to divide the circuit, but does the resistance of the circuit change due to its inclusion? I would have to deduce that it will effect the circuit at least a little bit. Is a the series/parallel rule or should I do a total the current...

value of learning vs value of meter

I need a capacitance meter and I have found some, that are what I want, for sale. I also found a kit that makes one but it is not really what I want. My situation is that I would like to keep my hobby a hobby, but my skills honed nicely. I think I want to buy one because the kit doesn't...

    transistors, and capacitors

A transistor is basically a capacitor with an attitude. Rather than open after it heats up a little, It refuses to open unless power is supplied to the base. Same basic deal, different application conditions. I have a cheap Harbor freight multimeter, with NPN and PNP testing capabilities. It...

    Ceramic Disc Confusion

I went to the library, I got a book on electronics for inventors, and a book on electronics for hobbiests. Great for me, whoopdy doo for you. Each book had a chart in it, that gave capacitor code reading a whole new meaning to the word confusing. One was fairly clear, It has little pictures...

    Phone Jack Types

Some of the schematics I am reading have two types of phone jacks, stereo and mono. the jacks are usually labled as Input and Output, and two out of three have the stereo jack on the input, and the mono jack on the output. I am really getting confused now, because I only have one of each for...

    audio transistor schema...

I am thinking about the signal flow in my circuits... is it better to use the collectors on the transistors for the input signal ---- and the emitters on the transistors for output signal? or is it arbitrary and the flow of the shema has little to do with proper flow of the signal?
