    Microphone inside car.

Hey! Don't call my nephew juvenile! Only I can do that! If I do, it's always affectionately. :p Marty's Uncle

Simple stall over current 12v dc motor protection?

Marty, sometimes you amaze me. Whenever I think you've burned out your brain beyond repair you catch stuff like this. You make your uncle proud! :) Uncle Chris

    Loss of voltage with MOSFET

Yeah, I downloaded the datasheet and peeked at the Vgs / Rds curve but my brain isn't working at all in the mornings. Come to think of it,.. Not to good in evenings either! :D On another note, I hope he's using a heatsink. Chris

    Loss of voltage with MOSFET

The only other thing I see there is the absence of a series gate resistor (~100Ω) to limit instantaneous inrush current to the gate. This will increase in importance when driven by the Arduino. However the lack of this resistor should cause no ill effects well after gating it on. So my guess is...

    Loss of voltage with MOSFET

The 7805 likes to see ~ 3.3uF -10uF from the output pin to the neg rail. See if that helps. Chris

4 players quiz game using relays

Quite frankly I would have spiced that SCR circuit in a heartbeat. The only reason I didn't is because Tina evidently doesn't think that incandescent lamps are worthy of accurate modeling. Tina treats them like a resistor. On the upside Tina does provide for .lib imports and creation of...

    synchronous binary counter question

Yes, we need a "Love It!" button. :D Cheers, Chris

Ditto on all those points. On the up side GutoBr didn't specify design limits of only four relays... Or did he? I'm never absolutely certain of anything any longer! Chris

Simple stall over current 12v dc motor protection?

Yes that should work too but he'll need a short delay to ignore the current limit upon startup of the motor. Not a big deal though. ;) Chris

I can certainly understand how it must feel to have the wind sucked from your sails by that SCR circuit. On the other hand we can't have your time and effort wasted. Besides, I enjoyed them! Hell, even if the OP doesn't use it there will certainly be another request like this come down the pike...

Simple stall over current 12v dc motor protection?

I typically post spiced (computer simulated) circuits. Unfortunately none of my three spice programs will simulate commutator noise. Since I never actually bench test anything I post on EP and since I don't have your motor I can only give you tips of how I would attempt this. One of the neat...

4 players quiz game using relays

I was hoping that Gryd3 would post yet another relay version. Though, I must say that the SCR circuit than Ken posted is sooooo damn clever! Did you know that you can emulate a basic SCR with an NPN & PNP Transistor? Chris

4 players quiz game using relays

Yes, I love the genius of adding the lamp in series with the battery. It holds the secret of why a second player can't trigger their SCR after another player has triggered theirs. Have I mentioned that I like people who like Thyristors? :D Chris

Gee Ken, it's damn near impossible to beat the simplicity of that circuit! Chris

Where did you find that circuit? Considering the banter over Relays I can't help but think that if you pulled it off Collin's website I'm going to stick a hot poker in my eye! :p Chris

4 players quiz game using relays

Despite my levity post I feel like I'm missing something too. That would be the status of this topic. GutoBr seems to be happy with the last circuit provided by Gryd3 but I don't understand why. Gyrd3, Is a non buzzzzz version in the works?:) Chris

Just a few observations regarding this thread. First, let's start with Relays. Electromechanical Relay: (1) I like Relays. (2) I like people who like Relays. (3) I don't like people who don't like Relays. (4) Relays have demonstrated basic logic for many generations & still do. (5) MacGyver...
