    Programable commutator

Your project is anything but a novice project. So before we go any further may I ask who is going to prototype it and who is going to build it? This would not be trivial project for even the seasoned veterans here. We have some members that will do contract work, including making PC Boards...

Possible help programming a Picaxe 08?

Here's a tip for you. The pdf help files contain sample code for every command, directive, statement, etc. Usually you can simply copy & paste the sample code into the picaxe editor with no issues. However be aware of code snippets that include ASCII text. This requires the text to be enclosed...

Possible help programming a Picaxe 08?

The PDFs are the help files. While in Picaxe Editor 6 click File then Help. You'll then see a list of PDFs .. Manual 1 "Getting Started" Manual 2 "Basic Commands" Manual 3 "Interfacing Circuits" Manual 4 "Flowcharts" Manuals 1 - 3 are the most important. For typical LDR use see Manual 3 page 29...

    Drill bits for homemade PCBs?

Just about any high speed (=>10,000RPM) rotary tool that accepts 1/8" collets will work well. This includes Routers, Trim Routers, Dremels, etc. IMHO, all of the above should be affixed to a drill press type arrangement. Though it doesn't matter if the rotary tool moves along the "Y" axis with...

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

Not a problem. We at EP manage to entertain and tweak each others dendrites with or without the OP. :D Cheers, Chris

    Serial Port Monitor (Data Logger)

I don't remember all the hoops I jumped though to get PortMon to run on my W7/64b but I do remember a hoop that 'finally' opened the GUI. Prior to that all I'd get was a very descriptive error message that said "ERROR!". When I reached the point of successfully opening it I don't remember...

    Drill bits for homemade PCBs?

OUCH! Nice but I've always had the hots for the "Classic" and iconic M2 Browning .50Cal. A single round is a real attention getter! Considering how old she is it's amazing that she still holds her own in the realm of serious impact power. Cheers, Chris

    Drill bits for homemade PCBs?

That's the French spelling. You guys need to close up that damn tunnel! :p Cheers, Chris

    Drill bits for homemade PCBs?

Martin, I don't think there's any word, phrase or sentence that you couldn't find some humor in. Cheers, Chris

    Drill bits for homemade PCBs?

That's not good advice. If a joint is messy suck up or wick up the joint and then re-solder it. Cheers, Chris

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

I don't know if UK TV has as many miracle pill and exercise commercials as we do but you know how they depict the before and after photos? Well check these out. The first one was taken just after purchasing my Trek Pure. The second one was taken last summer. So as you can see.. I ain't goin...

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

Can't do that. I love it too much. Cycling has transformed me from a 265lb gelatinous mass to a 69 year old stud muffin. Women from 20 to 80 hit on me damn near daily ..and I love it. My wife ain't too thrilled about it though. No, I drank them thinking they would help me sleep last night. It...

Some way to disable auto-standby on TV soundbar

Good thinking Martin. Think what a boon it would be to have software that could convert PCB photos (with labeled components) to a schematic! Yes, I'm fully expecting a post informing me that I missed the memo regarding that! Cheers, Chris

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

I took a spill off my bike. Suffering from severe skin loss and collar bone trauma. Typing is painful! That said you'll be happy to know I now get it. You're right! Drottson only needs to bring that voltage down below avalanche breakdown of Q1. Good thinking! ;) Cheers, Chris

    Serial Port Monitor (Data Logger)

Hey, it took me at least 5 minutes to stop laughing to the point of tearing. Since there's no help files included with AccessPort I decided to read the ReadMe_En.txt (English) file located in the AccessPort directory. Keep the tissues handy! :p This is what it says verbatim: Thank goodness...

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

Please provide the schematic along with the sim but remember that Q1 Emitter must see a voltage between 0V (noise off) and +Vn (noise on). +Vn must rise fast but decay slowly. Drottson didn't specify how slowly but he seems to be content with the current value of C6 as it discharges through Q1...

Some way to disable auto-standby on TV soundbar

There's got to be a more elegant way then that hack. Open Up the sound bar and take some good sharp photos. Then post them. Maybe we'll see something obvious but then..maybe not. :) Cheers, Chris

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

Uh yeah but I still don't see how that changes anything. What you describe causes loss of the 0V baseline but does not change the PP output value. I'm sure that Drottson needs the output to swing to 0V when pin3 goes low. I suggest that you sim & post the plot results. Cheers, Chris
