    LEDs Parallel or Series

No, Picaxe is totally different different than Arduinos. You can read all about Picaxe and the Picaxe system of programming at Picaxe.Com In your case a single 8 pin (DIP) 08M2 Picaxe chip will replace all three 555s! All Picaxe software is freeware. This includes the...

    LEDs Parallel or Series

This is a simple Picaxe 08M2 project. Cheaper too! Chris

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

Drottson, more DMM's are damaged by improper use of measuring current than any other function. It's for this reason that I deleted an entire instruction procedure that attempted to cover various DMM function & range switch positions as well as Jack inputs. Take a good photo of your DMM and post...

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

Colin, you say the damnedest things. These statements can only make sense if you're referring to one of his schematics posted much earlier in this thread. If you're going to comment in a thread please try to (at least) stay current. EDIT: You can also try to be helpful...

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

Hi Drottson, you did a good job correcting the schematic. You get 4 gold stars! :) Regarding your battery drain: The 9V battery isn't known for being a powerhouse but as you say others have been using them successfully in this application. Do as Alec suggested and measure your current draw. You...

Beginner ... ferrite core coil for crystal set

But then it's not a Crystal Set. Since its inception the allure of the Crystal Radio has been the fact that it doesn't require a power supply. Chris

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

R2 should not be connected to the piezo as shown. It should be connected between V+ and the 555 Trigger Pin 2. C6 isn't doing anything more than creating a current surge when the Output pin goes high and low. You need a resistor between the 555 output pin3 and the junction of C6 & R4 to create...

    cordless power tool converted

This is an absurd statement but I agree that two 12V motorcycle or car batteries kept on float charge is a good idea. He'll be able to use it in a power outage. Chris

I think that if all our senior members answered this question they would unanimously agree that you don't need any sort of regulation for a miter saw. Far more important is transformer and bridge that's not working their b@lls off. On the upside a miter saw is an intermittent duty machine. Chris

    cordless power tool converted

About 1.4V to 2V. Too insignificant to concern yourself with in this application. Normal variations in your line voltage will cause a greater drop then this. Chris

    cordless power tool converted

I think you should test it with two series connected 12V automobile, ... or better yet, motorcycle batteries before you do anything. Chances are, ...actually "likely" that it will run at ~ half speed on a single 12V auto bat.;) If you do this I recommend an in-line fuse because automobile...

Yes a beefy diode with its Cathode connect to the +V power rail and Anode connected to the -V common. BTW. You did tell them that you will be powering a 10A Miter Saw? Chris

    cordless power tool converted

I just realized that asking you if it's a universal motor was lame. There's no way a battery power tool would be efficient in a universal winding because the battery would have to power the field as well as the armature. It's most probably a permanent magnet motor. Chris

    cordless power tool converted

Ragnar, I should have asked you if the Mitersaw employs a Universal motor. If it does you can power it directly from a 220VAC to 24VAC Transformer. If it isn't then you would need a bridge rectifier on the secondary (24VAC) of the transformer. Chris EDIT: The saw doesn't have soft start or...

Contact them and inform them that your order is contingent on answering the question you posted here. Oh... You better pray that the reply doesn't come from China. My experience with replies to "Tech" questions always evokes a "Huh????" ... Err What???" o_O:confused: Are you fluent in...

There isn't much in the way of Tech Specs in those links so I Googled for "Hosim 360W 24V 15A Power Supply", which returned only consumer level data. It's a Regulated SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) marketed at high power LED strips. I hope it has kickback protection on the 24V output...

Hi Ragnar and welcome to EP! Don't loose sleep over this. I think a 15A supply will do just fine, especially if that rating is continuous, though you didn't specify that. Chris

    Activate transistor with piezo disc

Hi Drottson and thanks for trying to correct your schematic but it still has multiple errors. I'm late getting out and on my bike, so discussion regarding the errors will have to wait, unless someone else chimes in. The max output current of the TLC555 is quite a bit lower than the Bipolar...
