    Which PicBasic Software To Use?

Unless I'm mistaken MicroChip's PicBasic software isn't free and seems to be quite expensive. I did find MikroElektronika though, and have spent most of my morning reading their online book, which seems to be exceptionally written. Any opinions from members using this software? Thanks, Chris

What The Heck Is He Talking About??

From what I gathered the OP is desirous of reading the position of a SPDT switch connected to an input. Normally this would be an elementary task. After all it's easy to read a high (1) or Low (0) on an input. The hitch here is the fact that the switch is a 'center off' model and the OP wants...

What The Heck Is He Talking About??

That's where I'm a bit fuzzy. Nowhere in the responder's reply did he make the position of the SPDT(CO) switch clear. When he says "make the input pin an output and pull it up or pull it down" I'm assuming he's referring to doing so via instructions. I can't see where he mentions moving the...

What The Heck Is He Talking About??

I stumbled across this webpage where I found this snippet from a PIC forum the author suggests for further reading. No matter how many times I read this I couldn't make any sense of it. Primarily because the OP and the responder are discussing an input state that is verboten in the digital...

    The Ultimate Tube RIAA-Amplifier?

Roger, I'm not being kind at all. If I didn't like what I saw I would have either not commented or I would have made a sarcastic remark. Odds are it would have been the latter! :p YOU DO FINE WORK! ;) The weather here in South Florida? I opened up the house two weeks ago but I told the wife...

    Power Factor of waveform?

True power will be found at any point of the curve by multiplying the voltage * current at the same point of the 'X' vector. Therefore the power factor will be the apparent power/true power. Chris

    The Ultimate Transistor Amplifier

Well, it's obscenely expensive but I love your work! So if that's what you needed then so be it. ;) Chris

Electronics porn! :D I can tell by the fine enclosure work that your wiring will be exquisite too! ;) Chris

    What gauge do I need?

There's another factor that's worth mentioning... That would be temperature. An ice cold compressor puts an heavier load on the motor and therefore the mains feeding it. Is this compressor exposed to winter temperatures? Chris

I wonder if we'll never know. The OP seems to have left the room without so much as a Ciao! Chris

"The Shadow"! That brings back great memories of listening to those broadcasts on my crystal radios in the 50's. Chris

    What gauge do I need?

Since the start current of a SPH motor can be 3 times the run current the AWG should be 10 gauge minimum. 8 gauge would be better. Chris

    Two FM circuits

Not surprised when simulating circuit 1 it failed to maintain oscillation. It kicks on but decays exponentially. It doesn't mean that this circuit is faulty. It just means that sinusoidal oscillators are always a royal PITA to sim. Chris

    photovoltaic panel load problem

Thanks for answering those questions. My comment was based (solely) on a more basic concept than MPPT, which by the way, I read up on just prior to posting this. In fact, I've spent most of this morning reading and browsing over MPPT theory of operation as well as conceptual diagrams. Did I...

Basic Function for Stepper Motor for Beginner

I'm extremely biased. If simplicity and low cost is a priority then would not recommend anything other than Picaxe for nubes, students or just about any electronhead. http://www.picaxe.com All software, manuals and catalogs are free downloads. They contain basic Stepper info for both...

    n-channel mosfet

You're asking advice about a video that nothing is clear enough to comment about. Besides what John said about gate capacitance I think I could safely say that those LEDs are not wired ideally. If they were we wouldn't be seeing some of them illuminated while others are off. Chris
