    Flashing 5watt led?

In order to supply you with detailed information we need detailed information from you. What color LED will you use? What power supply will you use? What will the flash frequency and duty cycle be? Will this be portable? Chris

Working on getting a Pierce Oscillator to Oscillate

I think you'll find that because of Chinese manufacturing practices there are many scopes marketed under different manufacturer names and models but they're all the same scope made by one manufacturer. This practice is, by no means, limited to scopes. Chris

dimmer for parallel or series LEDs with timer

They can't be wired like that. You can't wire LEDs directly in parallel. Chris

I'm disappointed. I was hoping someone would translate the entire post, especially this. Chris

Working on getting a Pierce Oscillator to Oscillate

Steve, since I posted that link I've also found similar information that you have, including very large inductors that make no sense to be anything other than a choke. I've tried to spice the Pierce to the point of my head exploding. I'm also questioning the information in my link. I think I'll...

    Door Latch opener switch

More information please. Is the transmitter going to be a battery operated hand held device? What about the receiver end? Will it also be battery operated or will a wallwart suffice? Keep in mind that a solenoid, which is commonly used to pull the latch, will draw appreciable current. Chris

    cables for digital signals

You haven't mentioned if you're talking about inches, feet, yards, meters or whatever. When a high frequency signal has to travel over distance it should be via a transmission line. UTP and coaxial cable are good choices but neither constitute a "Transmission Line" unless the source impedance...

Working on getting a Pierce Oscillator to Oscillate

Here's Pierce Osc. theory. Note the value of L is much lower than what's been discussed here. It doesn't appear to be a choke or function as one either. I like to think of RF Choke function as the inverse of a bypass cap. Neither are an element related to resonance or impedance matching...

Unfortunately I don't know of any. I think Digikey's product filters come close though. Chris

Got a question about driving LEDs? (Another work in progress)

If a comparison chart exists it would be nice to have a link in the categories section in post 1. I'm referring to a link maintaining a running chart of available LEDs containing basic specs like Vfd, Ifd (Cont), Lumens, etc. Chris

    URGENT help for an idiot

That 5V spec @ Maplin is "Reverse Voltage". They spec the forward voltage as Blue Diffused= 4.5V, Blue Clear = 4V. These voltages seem high to me though. As Steve said 3.4V seems more realistic. Chris

    Model engineer needs help

I know you dismissed PICs early in the thread and I'm equally certain that I mentioned Picaxe UCs. http://www.picaxe.com/ ANYONE can learn to program and use them in a few hours! They will run rings around anything you design discretely, with logic blocks or otherwise. Download the free...
