Magnet coil help (turns, gauge, for coilgun)

I'd like to think that this topic has veered off into Bonkersburg but we may have been there from the outset. Whether it has or hasn't this project is dangerously beyond the capabilities of supak111. Every one here should ask themselves if they could sleep at night if he lived next door to you...

For what value of L, will this circuit resonate at 332kHz?

Well, this option will plot the bandpass of a filter you design but it won't design it for you. Chris

    Electronic whack-a-mole

I hope you didn't spend too much time thinking about that. ;) Chris

    Electronic whack-a-mole

I have a comment. WOW! Kris, you put a considerable amount of work into this. This was hardly a trivial exercise. Thank goodness you didn't go discrete! We'd be scrolling up - down - left - right - zoom in - zoom out. :D You never fail to impress. Chris

Magnet coil help (turns, gauge, for coilgun)

The 74HC04 is a TTL level chip. TTL is a 5V logic family. You'll need a 7805 voltage regulator. The spare inverters can be used to drive the additional IGBTs you have. Chris

Magnet coil help (turns, gauge, for coilgun)

Yeah, they're so fast they make a good pulse source for TDR. Chris

For what value of L, will this circuit resonate at 332kHz?

Well, it's not useless but yes, it's for active filter design. Does the TI version give you AC Transfer Characteristic? Chris

Magnet coil help (turns, gauge, for coilgun)

A hell of a lot faster than your projectile will ever be but why are you going discrete with this? Logic chips will be much faster and take up less real estate. Chris

Magnet coil help (turns, gauge, for coilgun)

The inverter isn't used as a power element. It's used to invert the signal to the gate of your coil driver. Didn't you say the coils would be fired by an IGBT or power MOSFET? Whatever component you choose for your inverter will have a part number that can be googled for the data sheet. All...

I like being here. So, what I'm thinking I can't post. Chris

Need help with a Power Failure Alarm Circuit

I just had a thought on an alternative concept for mains isolation. You could use a current limited NE2 across the mains and a PhotoTransistor. The NE2 will pull only uA from the mains. Goop them together with opaque compound. I believe an NE2+R across the mains UL approved too! Chris

Correct potentiometer for a small speaker.

Nurse call patient handsets employ 32 Ohm speakers. I've seen 500Ω and 1KΩ pots used in them, depending on the manufacturer. I know that 1KΩ seems high for this but it is what it is. Chris

Really? I didn't initially recognize your handle. If I had my first reply in this topic would have been another complaint about the same thing I complained about in your last topic. In your last topic I complained about your propensity for starting new topics that are nothing more than a...

    Wireless power transmission

This is an issue that should be mentioned when simulating a flip flop like this. Unlike in the real world components in spice simulators can be identical. That's why the simulations sometimes fail to oscillate. When siming it's a good idea to intentionally unbalance the circuit. By the way, I...

    Electronic whack-a-mole

I'm disappointed too. No shop made carbon resistors or foil/paper capacitors. :( You can redeem yourself by designing this around a mahogany base with OGee profile on the edging. Must be Tung or Danish Oiled though. No poly! :p Chris

Circuit for converting ammeter to voltmeter.

Well, that's one way to prevent the meter from being a significant load. ;) That said, if his basic movement is really 2A, what he wants to do is definitely in the oddball category. One thing is certain,.. the OP does not grasp the concept of 0 - 2V or 0 - 20V as his direct readout FS...

I would expect efficiency for most common iron core transformers to be >=95%. I know that grid transformers are near 98%. Chris

For what value of L, will this circuit resonate at 332kHz?

Tina-TI is free but it's a stripped down version. It's not surprising that it doesn't include Filter Design. Chris
