    VHF booster

Steve, did you do that? I wonder if they'll get past security? What FETs did you send him? Especially, since I'd want to just stick them in an envelope. I have about 500 MPF102's with Motorola factory markings (purchased mil surplus in1979) but I didn't think they'd get to Miguel. Uh... that's...

    Easter engine problem

I would not believe everything seen in a YouTube video, especially if it's brought to you by the magic energy crowd. More so if they're selling the plans to their magic! Try replacing the motor with a 470Ω resistor in series with a LED. For that matter if you have a variable power...

Miguel, have you dug up any designs?

    Pulse/heart rate counter project.

Yes, I know were you were and I'll be there tomorrow too. It's incumbent upon all able bodied men and women to do their part in supporting the world's Hops and Barley growers. :D I'll keep my eyes open for your schematics. .. I hope they're Tina. ;) Chris

    Valve (tube) amplifier schematic help

Besides the excellent theory of operation that Kris has given you, including the fact that the plate signal is ideally an image of the grid but inverted, you inadvertently touched on what I was trying to convey earlier. What I'm saying is that the signal at the Plate derives its power from the...

Justin, are you gonna be checking the horse's heart rate while you mill their teeth? :D Chris

    MOTOR SPEED CONTROL

Does this mean that you haven't been practicing and familiarizing yourself with the simulator while you've been waiting for the hardware?

That's a good enough understanding as any. ;) Chris

    Easter engine problem

That article was written by an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics. Sadly, there's a heap load of crap science out there, all spawned by the "Magic Energy" crowd. Yes, a 4,400uF cap can barely store enough charge to light a LED for two seconds. Note that the professor gave no specs for the cap or...

    Chronograph for bullets

OMG, how spoiled this generation is! ... Only!?!?!? ... There was a time when we would have killed for a 300MHz scope. ;) Chris

I pulled that dimension out of a hat because the commercial transits I've used employed steel cable nearly that dia. Chris

Help with time delay relay circuit

Having one isn't good criteria for choosing a component. Especially when a 4093 cost about $1.50 and does exactly what you want it to do. All it needs is a little 2N2222 or similar driver transistor.

    Motor control diy

Kris, I must have missed this somewhere up the pike. I thought the cord would be driven from a small V Pulley, as I drew it. I'm having a hard time getting my head around a 1/4" dia cord wrapped around a shaft that's probably << 1/4" diameter. V pulley's work well because forces press the cord...

    Motor control diy

Yes, the most critical part of this system is the mechanics. When the contactors reach there prospective limit switch it must remain in contact until the transit completely stops. If tests prove the motor to be too fast your easiest fixes would be a different motor or an off the shelf PWM...

Help with time delay relay circuit

Good Stuff! Duke, this is wonderfully simple and effective. The logic is fine too! I spiced it using a timed float switch. Just needs some filtering and spike protection on the Vdd to handle the nasty environment. ;) Chris

    PWM Online Battery Charger

As long as you can raise your output voltage to compensate for the diode drop that should work fine.

Where did you find that? It has multiple befuddlements. By the way, I thought I made that word up but ISpell says it exists. Go figure!

Help with time delay relay circuit

Why is a 2N3055 being used to drive a relay coil? What's the resistance or current of the coil? I think I read .16A (160mA). Seems like a whole lot of over kill. For that matter, you don't need a transistor to drive a 160mA relay coil. The NE555 will drive it directly. If you're using it for the...
