    Newbie Arduino questions

The assumption with many micro instructions/tutorials is you have some electronics knowledge. It would be impossible to give complete tutorials on everthing leading up to micros as one would never get on to the subject. If you find something such as the description of "8 bit" you do not...

    Passing a pulse around a 7400

Most are going to find your shorthand description useless. You will have to describe what you have and what you want clearly with a drawing also.

    low voltage lighting transformer problems

According to the pdf file I show a link to below, when no load (minimum 20W) they auto shut down just as you describe. So are you sure it is not just normal operation ? Other than that, many here would need to see schematics to even begin to comment...

    connecting wattmeter to arduino ?

Add a small relay to each load, determine which loads/combinations add up to 8 kw, send a message(dead contact) to an arduino input if the additional relay is energised. Hint, basically a logic circuit, this, or this and this etc. Only 4 units, can't be too dificult.

New Member, New to Electronics, Looking for some help!

What you seem to be describing is PWM. I wouldn't try to switch a mechanical relay like that as it will not last very long. What current do you expect to draw with each motor.? If you need a pattern, you will obviously require a micro to control any output buffers. This in turn will require...

Power monitor with Phase angle control.

There are interface units out in the market that should give you the readings. Ct and voltage transducers.

Toner transfer for PCBs having BGA packages on them

Never changed it...just looked now and it is set on Fast Res600 and the other option is for Fast Res 1200. My biggest concern usually is with getting the job out of the etchant as soon as possible to avoid undercut. Years ago I had a supply of "Dick Smith" copper clad boards and I soon found the...

Toner transfer for PCBs having BGA packages on them

My old original HP mono laser printer died and I replaced it with a Brother HL-2130 for toner transfer. More strife than Flash Gordon. Must have tried 50 different ways with no luck. Thought for a while I'd lost my touch. Read somewhere that Brother toner is not re-fusable i.e. it's a one off...

The variable speed motor and the wood lathe

You will need to provide more info ,perhaps a photo of the motor and wiring connector, current rating, etc. I suspect it is a series AC motor , either way not simple to control the speed, especially 3 hp.

    TV Antenna?

Then again, he could be in a fringe area in which case a paper clips will be good for just that alone. There is a difference (due to frequency) between UHF and VHF antenna design and (especially with digital reception) one will not work on the other. Loose signal strength or quality with digital...

    Homemade starter relay sticks

Copper can be used but it will also stick unless coated with, for example, silver. The contacts must be arranged as a wiping motion to remove oxidation deposits which can cause arcing and eventual sticking also. Some materials you may consider for the coatings of the contacts..... Silver, Fine...

    TV Antenna?

Digital terrestrial can be irratic. What works in one place may be different 3 metres away so again, ask an antenna installer. As an example, a wholesaler only last week, argued the point when I tried to get them to supply a high gain antenna, said they had never needed to use them. I had...

Need help making my own Arduino without buying an Arduino board

Means I agree with your #10. Trying to learn logic on one hand but failing to apply it on the other with regard to making in preference to buying at a much lower cost in time, money and space.
