    Combining multiple power sources

In parallel... To limit the current to a max of 1 or 2 amp, I don't want to rely on (or lack of) a current limiter ... How about swapping the resistor for a pwm which is fed into a regulator?.. I knocked up a sketch, It doesn't have a switching regulator support so i made crude step up...

    Combining multiple power sources

My original thought was to harness all my power banks and any other source producing 5v.. solar or even a dynamo.... So my plan was 5 diodes and 5 (1ohm resistors at 3watts or so) and combine all the sources straight into a larger switching regulator Is there a more efficient way to avoid...

    EMP attack!

I was thinking if war starts one of the first weapons to get used would be an EMP warhead, what's the best way to protect our electronics from one? Aluminium Foil? Metal Box? Half a ton of anti static electronic bags? Live in a Metal Cage?

Generating two complementary signals on 12 V supply on/off

Several ways, how easy do you want it? How do you want to alert a person? A light? A sound? An email? How complicated is it?

Need a comparator but don't have one?

what do you think the circuit I created does? it is the fundamental basics of an opamp

Need a comparator but don't have one?

I've only ever built this once, but it did the job....

Anyone come across an electronic battery?

so I would dial in 100mah select 5v when 100ma has been delivered be 1 hour or 30 seconds, it then says how long it took to consume that current, simple as that... that's why I'm asking I can't find one but sounds like it should exist

Anyone come across an electronic battery?

yes not thought it out properly, I just want to know if an electronic battery exists, I'll be using a shunt and measure the voltage drop across, when its consumer a certain amount of current, cut it off and display how long it ran for I want to test the efficiency of several circuits so...

Anyone come across an electronic battery?

if there isnt one, I'm going to think up one and build it, I'm thinking a microcontroller and a screen, set the output voltage 3/5/9/12v etc, and then you tell it how big the battery is, eg 100ma it then runs whatever electronics you want and delivers 100ma of current when finished it tells you...

    Craig's (mine) Joule Thief

I created it after buying a bunch of solar qx5252f ic's, which turned up 3 months late, so I built a diy one until they did. even though I built it years ago, I never did end up comparing which was more efficient

    Who's right and who's wrong?

why the hell would I want to try a different hobby when I've spent the last 20 years building power supplies and circuits ? maybe pulse width modulation confuses you? as it's either on or off on a duty cycle do you say it's a switch mode power supply like everyone else does or do you call them...

    power surges

if a power surge occurs we would see a power surge across every lamp post? and power coming on if surges took place we would see all the lights flicker, right?... I wanted to ask this question in the twilight zone but admin banned me from posting in there years ago... so I'm forced to post...

    Who's right and who's wrong?

I'm switched off, limiting can be binary? correct I don't see how, do you have a lab bench power supply? if I set the current of an led at 300ma , if the foward voltage drops the psu will adjust or limit itself to 300ma where as a BMS would simply terminate the supply completely and the LED...

Table radio makes loud popping sound when powered on

you could open it up and see if there's any dried or leaky capacitors but if that's the design of it then it's normal, you could modify the circuit but you void your warranty simply by opening it

    Who's right and who's wrong?

switching off the cell is implied? the word "switch" is mentioned in your first word, and switches have 2 states, on or off there is no current limiting...

no I don't suppose it would with a solar panel lol

    Diode help and general question

with a diode you might not reach full charge and only charge 95% or something which as far as I'm concerned can't be too bad for the cell, they say not to leave them charged over night but I think that's bs as I leave all my cells fully charged and the cell is just fine

    Who's right and who's wrong?

how much current are you limiting? if it's all of it, it's not limiting anything, it's off

    Who's right and who's wrong?

if you are referring to a bms, consider it a switch, it doesn't reduce current it over current occurs, it switches off until you reduce the current... you don't have current limited power supplies you have switch mode power supplies because it's either on or off, so unless there's resistance...
