    Help Identify PJ742K chip

https://images.app.goo.gl/zzrzzCgJDV2s2jGp7 I was able to find a photo match for the PJ742K and messing with that page it shows up as a diode/LED. You could try removing one leg and testing it as a diode and see what happens.

Delco Radio CDM Troubleshooting and Component Identification

Although I have many different models of these Delco CDM's, I do not have yours. None of the models I have have those 470uF caps next to each other in that spot on the board, so I don't think I can help you.

Delco Radio CDM Troubleshooting and Component Identification

Is the reason for your request to fix the probable corroded traces from the leaking capacitors? You apparently have the quite common problem with those CDM's. So are you looking for pictures that show those traces?

Miserable failure to solder XLR connector to mic cable!

Sorry. I added to my post because I misread the OP's comment. I do tin when there is no hole.

Miserable failure to solder XLR connector to mic cable!

What I find works, when using pins like that, is to insert the wire into the pin hole, heat up a small blob of solder onto the end of the soldering iron with a pencil type tip, and then just quickly place the blob over the top of the pin and wire. It will flow onto the wire and into the pin...

Technics SU-X102 amp repair, asking for guidance

The pics are fine for now. So hearing that the previous owner mentioned that slapping the side of the unit would make it come on leads me to believe there may simply be failed solder joints that need to be looked for. Another thing is that that unit has a substantial number of electrolytic...

Supply clear photos of the component boards, and if you are able, both side of the boards, so we can see what you are looking at.

    Ceramic Capacitors

Thanks Delta. I do agree that the physical make-up of the Monolithic Ceramic Capacitors do appear to be a more solid design. With that, and your reputation here, I am confident they are interchangeable. Additionally, it appears the regular ceramics are becoming much harder to source now...

    Ceramic Capacitors

"Age" meaning the monolithic ceramic capacitors have taken the place of the regular ceramic capacitors now? The monolithic is the "updated" version? Is that what you mean? And then, are they interchangeable, meaning can I install the monolithic capacitor in the place of the ceramic one if I...

    Ceramic Capacitors

Hi all. I have pictured a couple of ceramic capacitors. I know the one on the left is a "monolithic" ceramic capacitor, and the one on the right is simply a "ceramic" capacitor. They both hold the same value. My question is, are they interchangeable in a circuit? The ceramic capacitor was...

    Smoothing capacitor replacement. Value unknown.

You also need to check your board for what looks like failed solder joints. In the original poster's photo there are typical signs of these. I have pointed them out in the attached photo, but you need to examine all of them on that board and reflow the solder if you find them, and replace the...

    Component Identification and Information

Thanks for the reply, Bertus. I don't know if they have failed or not. I am currently going through the components in the tuner section of this thing, since I have no radio station reception on both AM and FM. Not a static type noise, but just the noise you would hear between stations...

    Component Identification and Information

Hi all. I am working on another old Delco Car Stereo Control Data Module (CDM). Model Number 16169996. AM/FM Stereo "brains" part of a three component system. No schematic is available. This one has two components I am trying to identify. This should be easy for the radio guys. They...

    Viewsonic VX3276-2K-mhd monitor Power failure

Look closely at the marked photo and check those solder joints on your PCB. A couple of them look bad, but it is hard to tell from here. It could just be the lighting. And just so you know, a capacitor does not have to be bulging or leaking to be bad. As mentioned above, they could develop...

    Component Identification

Hi all. Can someone tell me what the two yellow components are on this board please? I see they may be polarized, due to the stripe on one end, and that is what has me confused about them. They have 106, 6K, and 210 on them. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Carbon Composition Resistor or Inductor?

I was able to get this figured out. I've been messing with it for at least two years and have another thread here (quite lengthy) where there are a lot more details, but after following voltage paths from the power chip, I was led to an e-cap that I had already replaced with a quality new one...
